OVERVIEW:
The Senior Accountant will serve as a key member of the Financial Reporting team. The successful candidate will provide accounting expertise including, but not limited to, technical accounting research, booking accruals and intercompany related journal entries for trading and cargo business in addition to group reporting related to the accounting and reporting functions.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
•Prepares monthly derivative journal entries and monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
•Prepare financial statement disclosures under IFRS related to derivatives and fair value.
•Assist in reconciling intercompany accounts across ATA’s Affiliates and related parties to ensure that the transactions and balances are consistent and accurate across all entities involved to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to intercompany transactions as a part of month-end closing.
•Record various financial transactions for general accounting matters (intangible and prepaid amortization, interest accruals, payroll, property tax and other manual journal entries, as needed), maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, and ensure adherence to accounting standards.
•Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting package requested by ATC, which includes statement of cash flows, roll forward schedules for various accounts, and variance analysis, etc. Respond to questions from ATC on reporting package inquiries.
•Prepare ATA’s annual IFRS financial statements and disclosures, including group and standalone accounting.
•Review and evaluate reasonableness of financial statements. Identify and investigate discrepancies and coordinate with different finance teams to timely resolve issues.
•Provide information to internal and external auditors, as well as the business assurance team upon request over the course of the year.
•Conduct regular reconciliations of financial accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
•Provide Technical Accounting analytical and technical support to staff and Management to resolve complex commodity accounting issues.
•Review new contracts and advise proper accounting treatment.
•Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and relevant regulations.
•Assistance with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial processes.
•Perform other accounting related system automation or other ad hoc projects and reporting tasks.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
•CPA certification is preferred.
•Understanding the intricacies of different commodity markets, including oil, refined products, chemicals & renewable products as well as accounting treatments for financial instruments used to mitigate risk in commodity trading
•Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
•5+ years of experience in commodity accounting and management reporting.
•Self-starter with excellent problem solving and analytical skills; detail oriented with a high level of accuracy; able to work independently and resolve issues through system research and system extraction.
•Ability to organize large volumes of data in Excel and perform quantitative analysis.
•Ability to communicate in a professional manner and establish effective working relationships with the accounting team, risk and operation team.
•Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and make informed recommendations.
•Have a working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA is a plus but not required.
•Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
