We specialize in residential and commercial solar PV systems and are looking for an experienced Solar Design Specialist to join our growing team.

The Solar Design Specialist will be responsible for creating precise, code-compliant solar PV system designs using industry-leading software.

This in-house role requires technical expertise, a deep understanding of NEC and building codes, and the ability to translate project specifications into accurate design packages ready for permitting and installation.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop accurate solar PV system designs using Aurora Solar, Scanifly, Solo, Open Solar, and/or HelioScope

- Ensure all designs comply with NEC, local building codes, and AHJ-specific requirements

- Collaborate with sales, engineering, and project management teams to ensure accurate system sizing and component selection

- Incorporate site survey data, shading analysis, and structural details into final designs

- Maintain accuracy in all project documentation to support permitting, procurement, and installation

- Stay up to date with evolving codes, standards, and solar design best practices

Qualifications

- Minimum 2 years of experience in solar PV system design

- Proficiency in Aurora Solar, SolarGraf, Solo, Open Solar, and/or HelioScope

- Strong understanding of NEC and applicable building codes

- Ability to interpret site survey data, electrical service details, and structural information

- Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills

- Effective communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders

- Journeyman Electrician License in Massachusetts required

Preferred Qualifications

- NABCEP PV Design Specialist certification or equivalent

- Experience in both residential and commercial PV design

- Knowledge of energy storage integration and interconnection requirements
