Solar Engineering Manager
Location: New York, NY or remote
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Sr. Director of Optimization and Engineering, the incumbent will plan, organize and direct engineering activities to optimize Solar facilities. More specifically, the Solar Engineering Manager will have the following responsibilities:
•Optimize, develop new strategies, for operating facilities and support repower and greenfield development.
•Coordinate the development, design engineering and commissioning of new projects.
•Develop or participate in development of RFP’s, specifications and drawings, proposal review and contract award, tendering phase, quality assurance and finalization.
•Prepare, review, negotiate and finalize contract documents and supervise contract administration to ensure compliance with permits, policies and codes.
•Act as a Project Manager for projects assigned.
•Participate in M&A activities and provide opinions on technical issues, equipment obsolescence, operating history and value add.
•Assist in capital and maintenance budget preparation and prioritize, plan and schedule of work budgeted.
•Provide engineering advice and develop engineering solutions and guide on the development, revision and quality control of preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programs, policies and procedures.
•Review the preventive and corrective maintenance reports to ensure compliance and identify issues.
Assist self-perform teams as subject matter expert in troubleshooting and repair, and equipment selection of solar equipment.
•Propose improvements and evaluate new technologies to minimize operating costs, risk and potential losses and maximize potential generation.
•Perform site audits and work with contractors and self-perform teams to improve the health of the sites.
•Demonstrate a strong alignment with corporate values, including health, safety, security and environmental policy.
•Manage a small team of direct reports.
Requirements

•Travel Expectation: 10-30%
Qualifications
•BS Degree in Engineering, electrical preferred (advanced degree is a plus);
•8+ years of relevant experience, preferably in Solar Construction or Operations & Maintenance.
•Familiarity with applicable OSHA standards
•Commissioning and project management experience
•Experience in Energy Storage technologies is an asset.
•Experience in greenfield and/or brownfield development is an asset.
•Knowledge of National Electric Code, PVSyst, and other modeling software
•Experience in managing small teams of engineers
Annual Compensation: $150,000-170,000 and bonus eligible
