A Solar Electrician specializes in the installation, maintenance, and repair of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. This role requires electrical expertise and a focus on safety, efficiency, and compliance with codes.
- Install, maintain, and repair solar PV systems, including panels, inverters, wiring, and other electrical components for residential and commercial properties.
- Connect solar panels and inverters to the building’s electrical system, ensuring all work meets state and local codes.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to plan installations.
- Perform electrical wiring, conduit installation, and system grounding for solar projects.
- Inspect, test, and troubleshoot solar installations for safety and performance, diagnosing and repairing faults as needed.
- Upgrade or replace existing solar equipment to improve system efficiency.
- Maintain detailed records of installations, repairs, and inspections.
- Train and mentor junior electricians and apprentices on solar installation best practices.
- Communicate with customers regarding system use, maintenance, and safety.
- Valid Georgia electrician’s license (or ability to obtain one). Experience in electrical work, preferably with solar PV systems.
- Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations.
- Ability to work on rooftops and in various weather conditions.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, conduit bending, and electrical testing equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in electrical or renewable energy fields is a plus.
