Solar Design Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity to work on interesting and cutting edge projects in solar energy and energy storage. This is a full time salaried position that is fully remote from your home office or a coworking space near you. Accepting applications from candidates anywhere in the US, with a preference for those located in California or Arizona. Working hours: 9-5 PT, M-F

We are seeking candidates with limited experience but with an exceptional capacity to learn and grow with our team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

- Prepare solar and other renewable energy project plan sets in collaboration with the project team and your mentor.

- Develop early stage site plans and electrical single line diagrams

- Perform energy production modeling in Helioscope or PVSyst (possible)

- Manage individual projects, plan work and communicate with clients as needed to complete projects

Required Technical Skills

- Some experience drafting using AutoCAD

- Excellent mathematical skills

- Adept with excel spreadsheets, google sheets, and calculation software

- Familiarity with NEC, building code, and standard permitting practices.

- 1 year experience designing solar projects or formal training and education in solar and energy storage engineering.

- Superb attention to detail, excellent organizational & planning skills

- Quick to learn, Problem-solving, analytical skills & critical thinking skills

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

- Ability to write clear, concise, and actionable emails and meeting notes

- Fun, like-able, easy going personality

- Ideal candidate will actively seek feedback for the sake of continuous improvement

Experience and education

- Bachelor's degree in engineering or science required.

- Bachelors in electrical engineering with a focus on Power systems design preferred OR

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineer and experience with civil sit plan drafting

- Coursework completed in renewable energy system design and engineering, OR

- 1 to 2 years of PV system design and engineering experience
