Position Overview:
The Shop Helper plays a vital role in supporting ARI’s shop and field operations by ensuring the work environment is clean, organized, and efficient. This position assists trained mechanics in cleaning, maintaining, and servicing vehicles and heavy equipment—including rock drills, excavators, crushers, and haul trucks. Responsibilities include equipment washing, shop upkeep, inventory support, and basic maintenance assistance. This role is essential for maintaining operational readiness and supports ARI’s Product Support and Operations teams.
Schedule:
- Standard shift is Monday – Friday 7:30am – 4:00pm.
- Overtime is available upon approval.
- The Shop Service Manager will notify you of your schedule, which will depend on equipment repair demands that need to be addressed.
- Your standard work location will be based out of ARI’s shop headquarters in Springfield, OR.
- Wage Range:: $18- $20.00/hr
- Full benefit package available for full-time employees
- Driver License:: Valid Oregon driver’s license with no more than 3 moving violations and/or chargeable accidents in the last 3 years and no DUIIs
- Background Check:: Required through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to comply with federal restrictions
- Pre-employment Drug Test and Physical:: Required. ARI maintains a zero-tolerance drug policy, including marijuana use
- Education:: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Experience:: Experience in a shop or service environment preferred

- Material Handling:: Support loading, unloading, sorting, stocking, staging, and securing of inventory materials.
- Equipment Cleaning:: Pressure wash vehicles and equipment to remove dirt, grease, and grime.
- Visual Inspection:: Inspect equipment before and after cleaning to identify visible wear or potential issues.
- Maintenance Support:: Assist mechanics with lubrication, filter changes, and other basic maintenance tasks.
- Tool Operation:: Operate grinder to sharpen steel drill bits and report quantities for inventory.
- Inventory Management:: Conduct routine inventory counts and support tracking of shop materials.
- Field Support:: Deliver parts and tools to field locations as needed.
- Safety Participation:: Assists ARI’s Safety Coordinator in performing monthly shop inspections and walk-throughs.

- Lifting and carrying:: Carrying, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 75 lbs.
- Physical endurance:: Ability to work for extended periods in physical conditions.
