Shipping & Receiving Helper/General Shop Hand

This position is Monday to Friday 8:15 AM-4:45 PM.

Responsibilities for shop hand

- Close up shop nightly.

- Repair and maintenance of building and grounds including snow removal

- Assisting in will call to load out customers

- Load, unload, and identify materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations

- Packaging of products for delivery including the building of wooden pallets and crates

- Parts runner for various parts and supplies for the shop

- Local deliveries and pickups (Class A CDL preferred)

- Help keep shop and yard storage area clean and orderly

- Help with mechanical repairs on trucks and equipment

- Other duties as needed around the shop with a chance to learn new skills

- Assist with production duties such as painting, sanding, and leveling parts

- Combine and organize flat stock pallets

Qualifications for shop hand

- Clean, neat, and organized with strong work ethic and an outgoing, customer friendly personality

- The ability to work quickly and efficiently as well as be self-motivated

- Forklift experience mandatory (sit down style)

- Must be able to pass a DOT physical for driving responsibilities

- Able to read, write and communicate English (Spanish speaking a plus)

- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs without assistance

- Operation of electric and air-powered hand tools, such as drills, air nailer, grinders, and sanders

- Operation of metal saws, drill presses

- Use of standard hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.

- Carpentry experience preferred but not mandatory

- Basic math skills with knowledge of reading a tape measure is needed

- Experience with hand tools

- Able to lift 50 lbs.

- Work in a standing position for the entire workday

- Basic computer skills

- Legible handwriting

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

- Ability to work as part of a small team as well as individually

- Willingness to learn new processes and new equipment
