Summary of Position
Universal Plant Services located in Deer Park; TX is searching for a Shipping & Receiving Clerk with at least 1-2 years of shipping & receiving experience. The Shipping and Receiving Clerk will be responsible for all aspects of the shipping process at Universal Plant Services. The position will work with multiple departments including Operations, Sales, and Manufacturing as well as vendors to ensure that shipments are received and delivered. This job is full-time and offers a great benefit package.
Essential Job Requirements:
•Strong sense of time organization, urgency and ability to multitask.
•Loading/unloading shipments from trucks with a forklift
•Arrange for the most cost-efficient means of moving product to its destination while meeting customer deadlines
•Coordinate shipping with various transportation providers including UPS, FedEx, DHL, USPS, etc
•Utilize in-house software to create and receive purchase orders and to process sales orders
•Prepare bills of lading and shipping documents for inbound and outbound shipments
•Pack & seal shipments going out
•Maintain overall shipping and receiving schedule for the company
•Track all shipments and be able to report on status of shipments as required
•Follow up on any shipping problems or issues
•Maintain rental equipment tracking spreadsheets
•Communicate with Sales, Operations and vendors to assure our ability to deliver on time
•Identify and resolve issues related to shipments and inventory
•Receive packages and compare both the purchase order and packing slip and enter in internal computer software
•Run expected reports in internal computer software to track what/when orders are scheduled to arrive and follow up with buyer if expected date has passed
•Ability to work well independently as well as with colleagues
•Assemble furniture and other items as needed
•Raise/lower UPS, Texas and US flags and replace as needed
•Enter, receive and code vending machine inventory
•Other related duties as assigned.
Required Education
•High school diploma required; or equivalent
Required Experience
•Must have forklift experience (can be certified through UPS)
•Experience with hot shot, UPS, FedEx, DHL, USPS, etc
•International shipping experience is a plus (NAFTA tariff codes, SLI, SED, etc.)
Required Skills
•Must be reliable and extremely trustworthy.
•Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related programs.
•Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
•Must be able to lift heavy boxes up to 75 lbs.
•Must be able to lift and move packages for stocking, stacking, pulling, packing and loading
•Understanding basic math for tasks like calculating quantities and verifying what was delivered versus ordered and must be able to accurately read a measuring tape
•Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with colleagues and customers

•Computer, telephone, copier, scanner, and printer.
