Summary: Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for ensuring accurate shipments to subcontractors, suppliers, and customers and the receiving of purchased goods to purchase order specifications.
· Facilitating the delivery of products, ensuring documentation is accurate, managing customs requirements and communicating with customers and suppliers regarding deliveries and timelines.
· Wear all the required PPE and follow company policies and procedures.
· Adhere to good housekeeping practices, keeping the area clean and free of hazards.
· Provide ideas/suggestions and contribute to the continuous improvement culture
· Monitor delivery schedules, accept goods when they arrive and ensure the delivery conforms to the purchase order
· Inspect goods for quality and quantity, cross-checking the specifications against the order, and noting and reporting any discrepancies or damages to the vendor
· Ensure the input and integrity of appropriate back-end paperwork; coordinate approval with the appropriate manager, monitor and investigate variances related to receiving documents.
· Ensure that delivered goods are stored in their designated area
· Drive to the vendor when necessary to pick up orders
· Perform any other duties as assigned by the Purchaser
· Escalate issues as they arise and proactively communicate with the Purchaser
· Perform analytic duties such as running reports and analysis related to receiving process and inventory management
· Coordinate with the Finishing department to support on-time delivery to subcontractors and customers.
· Clear, concise, and professional communication (voice and email) to facilitate shipments with transport companies, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers.
· Accurate preparation of applicable shipping documentation (Advanced Shipment Notices, USA customs invoices, bills of lading, packing slips, etc.).
· Computer literacy including experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
· Experience with cross border customs requirements would be an asset.
· Previous experience as a Shipper or Receiver in a manufacturing setting would be an asset.
· Ability to drive forklift is an asset
· High accuracy and attention to detail, able to execute tasks with minimum supervision
· Excellent administrative skills, able to organize documents/files properly, effective time management and prioritization.
· Must be able follow written and oral instructions and communicate in English (written and oral).
· Environmental conditions: Indoor/outdoor, extreme conditions, fumes, dust, noise, heavy equipment, gases, and exposure to silica sand.
· Physical demands: Lifting, carrying up to 50lbs, bending.
· Safety equipment: hard hat, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, smock, and RPE.
