Job Overview
Reporting to the Facility Operations Supervisor, the Shipper/Receiver will use the forklift/skidsteer to move gaylords, loose material and bales around the plant, move and stack/un-stack bales and load/unload trailers and containers. This position is responsible to keep the bales storage organized and to fill trailers and containers to weight and/or specificity of the customer. They must also be ale to complete shipping/receiving reports. The incumbent is responsible to conduct a full pre-trip inspection prior to using at the beginning of their shift and clean the equipment at the end of every shift. This position may also be required to sweep the floor with the rubber broom attachment. Working safely to achieve production goals in a team environment. Clean as you go philosophy.
Responsibilities
•Work in safe and efficient manner and strive to increase production.
•Must be able to sort and move products and materials by hand or with material handling equipment in an efficient and careful manner.
•Must be aware of surroundings and be alert.
•Visual inspections and responsible to report any deficiencies, damage with equipment including pre-shift reports on mobile equipment.
•Report all incidents/accidents and illness immediately to a supervisor.
•Must wear required PPE and adhere to all safety regulations and policies/procedures.
•Must follow operating procedures for mobile equipment.
•Must keep work area tidy and clean (no clutter).
•Takes a positive approach to work assignments and treats co-workers, customers and management with tact and respect.
•Must follow all company Policies and Regulations.
•All other duties assigned by supervisor that are safe and reasonable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•At least 5 years experience working in a similar position.
•Possesses a current valid forklift license from an approved company/school.
•Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time, some twisting, bending, squatting, lifting and climbing in and out of mobile equipment.
•Possesses hand eye coordination.
•Ability to understand written and oral instructions.
•Ability to learn repetitive duties quickly and carry them through independently.
•Must be able to work in hot and cold weather and able to complete medium to heavy work (up to 50 lbs.)
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an industrial building, at times amid high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, in conditions such as high humidity, odours, dust, gases, and exposure to hot and cold temperatures. Some work is outside, in all weather conditions.
