GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The shipping and receiving role involves managing both inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring accurate inventory tracking, and facilitating efficient supply chain operations. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES
•Inspecting incoming shipments for damage or discrepancies, verifying quantities and quality against purchase orders, and documenting any issues.
•Preparing packages for shipment, labeling them accurately, and coordinating with shipping companies for delivery.
•Communicating with other departments, logistics providers, and customers to ensure smooth and efficient shipping and receiving operations.
•Accurately logging inventory, maintaining an organized warehouse, and ensuring accurate inventory levels using inventory systems and software.
•Maintaining accurate records of all incoming and outgoing shipments, including shipment data like weight, dimensions, and freight charges.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
•2+ years of work experience as a shipper/receiver or heavy material handler.
•Proficiency with basic computer skills and software, including inventory systems and shipping software.
•Good communication skills are necessary for interacting with internal staff, logistics providers, and customers.
•Ability to read a tape measure and identify materials by dimensions.
•Strong attention to detail is crucial for inspecting shipments, verifying quantities, and ensuring accuracy in inventory management.
•Excellent organizational skills are essential for managing inventory, preparing shipments, and maintaining accurate records.
•Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
•Ability to build skids and crates.
•Candidate should be comfortable working in both team and individual settings.
•Must be flexible and willing to cross train in other positions within the materials department.
EDUCATIONAL/PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS
•Ability to operate pallet jacks and forklifts for moving, loading and unloading materials.
•Forklift certification preferred.
•Must be able to pass a physical assessment.
•Ability to lift, walk, and bend frequently may be required.
•Everyday lifting 25 to 50 lbs.
