GENERAL SUMMARY:
Performs leadership duties which include monitoring training, establishing work assignments, reviewing and disciplining employees within the assigned production areas. Responsible for production, quality, scrap, re-work, safety and housekeeping. Responsible for tracking, monitoring and reporting the performance of production areas. Work is guided by established company policy and quality requirements of both the Quality Management System and customer expectations. Work involves the direction of other employees. Reports to the Production Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
General educational background with both written and verbal communication skills typically acquired through completion of high school or GED equivalent: Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment preferred. Preferred knowledge and experience in production machines, skilled trades, machine repair, safety procedures, and OSHA regulations. Preferred knowledge of blueprints, gaging and equipment specific to the job. Must have good time management skills, be able to multitask and resolve workplace disputes. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must possess intermediate computer skills.
DUTIES:
Assign tasks to meet the schedule and manage the flow of day-to-day operations. Follow and enforce procedures, work instructions, and employee handbook. Communicate with Managers, Supervisors, Set Up Personnel and employees regarding production, quality, personnel and machining problems. Conduct employee performance evaluations and appraisals including constructive feedback. Serve as trainer, mentor and coach in the development of all subordinates. Develop, implement and monitor production improvement goals. Promote teamwork and unity by embracing RIMA’s core values and leading by example. Complete layered audits. Collaborate with and assist in all departments to implement plans to achieve company goals. Assist in maintaining safe practices for all employees. Follow up on hold ups and rejections daily. Assist in determining the cause and implementation of the corrective action. Perform problem solving activities and complete corrective action reports as necessary. Participate in the continuous improvement, research and recommendations for all operational processes. Initiate new methods to increase efficiency and quality. Track the production flow through the operator and set up personnel. Monitor work in process to assure efficiency in the production process. Cover Shift Coordinator absences.
RESPONSIBILITY, ACCOUNTABILITY AND AUTHORITY:
Support production of profitable product.
Responsible for reporting the performance of all disciplines identified above to the Managers for review, critique and recommendations.
Responsible for Health and Safety of employees.
Responsible for completing layered audits.
Responsible for reviewing preventative maintenance for the machines in their area and addressing non-conformances.
Responsible for communicating customer quality issues to operators.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Employee will be exposed to the noise, fumes and temperature extremes typically found in a light manufacturing environment. Risk of injury from being in close proximity of operating machinery is possible, but unlikely if proper safety precautions are followed. Lifting requirements for this position dictate that the employee must be physically capable of lifting a minimum of 40# on a repetitive basis and a maximum of 80# on an occasional basis.
