The primary responsibility of the Shift Manager is to maximize production in a safe and environmentally responsible manner while always seeking continuous improvement. This objective is accomplished by orchestrating numerous tasks carried out by a team of skilled workers during a specific shift while coordinating communications with maintenance, superiors and subordinates. When the Operations Manager and Deputy Operations Manager are not on site, the Shift Manager assumes full responsibility and authority over the site and all on-site management functions, including protecting the health and safety of the public, plant employees, and other personnel onsite, and preventing damage to plant equipment and structures. The Shift Manager is also responsible for the development of an assigned operating crew. The Shift Manager will perform periodic performance reviews and track performance for growth of subordinates through the Operations pipeline.
- Bachelor s degree in Science / Engineering / Technology
Experience
- A minimum of eight years of related work experience, to consist of at least five years of related work experience with at least three years of experience at a senior level in a technical, chemical, or operations work environment
Education
- Master s degree in Science / Engineering / Technology and certified as a Urenco USA plant operator

Primary Functions
- Achieve and maintain qualifications as a Shift Manager in accordance with the UUSA Operator Training program
- Assure the UUSA uranium enrichment facility is operated within established guidelines for company, state, and federal environmental regulatory compliance
- Maintain overall responsibility for the operability of all Items Relied On For Safety (systems, structures, and components)
- Responsible for all shift personnel, site activities, and operation of plant equipment related to providing enrichment services in a safe and efficient manner
- Supervise the following:
- Operate enrichment process and plant utility systems and equipment
- Perform cylinder handling activities including connecting and disconnecting cylinders, sampling, and blending operations
- Maintain awareness of plant conditions by reviewing routine tours, rounds, and plant logs
- Identify issues with equipment, processes, and procedures and ensure timely reporting
- Provide oversight for pre-job briefs and plant operations
- Interface with Maintenance personnel to plan, schedule, and implement the work management system
- Organize, lead, and accomplish complex operational tasks and assignments
- Perform plant Incipient Fire Brigade and Emergency Plan duties and responsibilities up to the level of Emergency Director; participate in training and drills related to both
- Provide oversight of on-the-job training and task performance evaluations for operators in training
- Understand system design capabilities and operation of the UUSA uranium enrichment process equipment and plant utility systems
