Position Summary
This role will lead the execution of a large-scale utility meter installation project in Brownsville, TX, covering both electric and water meter deployments. The Senior Utility Project Manager oversees the planning, execution, and completion of projects within the utility sector, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role involves managing diverse teams, coordinating with stakeholders, and mitigating project risks, often managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities:
•Project Planning and Execution: Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation. Oversee the execution of all project phases, from initiation to closeout, ensuring adherence to project plans and quality standards.
•Stakeholder Management: Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders, maintaining clear and consistent communication channels and fostering positive relationships.
•Risk Management: Identify potential project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and implement appropriate risk management plans.
•Budget and Cost Management: Develop and manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure projects are completed within the allocated budget.
•Team Leadership: Lead and motivate project teams, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to team members.
•Contract Management: Manage contracts with vendors and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with contract terms and conditions.
•Quality Assurance: Implement quality control procedures and ensure that project deliverables meet the required quality standards.
•Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and present regular project status reports, highlighting progress, issues, and risks to stakeholders.
•Compliance: Ensure projects comply with all relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards.
Management Responsibility
Yes, this position will manage field supervisors, technicians, and potentially subcontractors.
Essential Functions

Travel

Required Education and Experience
Key Skills and Qualifications:
•Project Management Expertise: Strong project management experience, ideally in the utility sector, with a proven track record of successfully managing complex projects.
•Leadership and Communication Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively manage teams and communicate with stakeholders.
•Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant technologies, engineering principles, and construction practices within the utility industry.
•Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve project issues effectively.
•Financial Acumen: Understanding of project budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.
Education:
•A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is typically required. Advanced degrees (e.g., Master’s) are preferred.
•Proven experience with electric, gas, or water utility services

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience:
•Typically requires 7+ years of progressive project management experience, with at least 3+ years in a supervisory role.
