The Senior Network & Infrastructure Engineer
will serve as the organization’s lead architect and escalation point for enterprise network, security, and hybrid infrastructure. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust, secure, and highly available solutions across corporate headquarters, regional offices, project sites, data centers, disaster recovery facilities, and cloud environments.
In addition to advanced network engineering, the role includes responsibilities in
systems and cloud administration, ensuring seamless
integration between on-premises environments,
virtualization platforms, and
Microsoft Azure/O365 services. The ideal candidate will combine deep expertise in networking with practical experience managing core systems and cloud services, driving measurable improvements in performance, resilience, and compliance.
Candidates MUST be local to the Houston, TX area for the interview process and work environment. Key Responsibilities Network Architecture & Design
- Architect secure, resilient, and scalable network solutions connecting HQ, regional offices, project sites, data centers, DR, and cloud resources.
- Design and maintain hybrid connectivity strategies (ExpressRoute, VPN, SD-WAN) for high availability and disaster recovery.
- Evaluate and modernize existing network infrastructure to improve performance, scalability, and security.
- Develop secure DMZs and segmentation strategies to protect enterprise applications and separate IT/OT networks.
- Install, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, and wireless across Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto, and Aruba/HPE platforms.
- Manage enterprise firewalls (Palo Alto) with advanced features such as WildFire, GlobalProtect, and threat prevention profiles.
- Administer Cisco switches, routers, and Meraki cloud-managed networks.
- Integrate on-premises networks with cloud infrastructure for secure and efficient application delivery.
- Manage and support virtualization platforms such as VMware for enterprise workloads.
- Administer enterprise servers and storage (HP ProLiant, Nimble) to ensure availability and resilience.
- Support Microsoft Azure and O365 services, including Azure AD, MFA/Conditional Access, Intune, and Exchange.
- Oversee enterprise backup and disaster recovery platforms (Rubrik, Azure Backup), including restore testing and compliance.
- Contribute to system monitoring, patching, and automation initiatives (PowerShell/Python).
- Monitor network performance (latency, uptime, throughput, bandwidth utilization) using enterprise monitoring platforms.
- Track system health and resource utilization (VMware clusters, storage capacity, CPU/memory/disk performance).
- Report on backup job success rates, restore test completion, and DR readiness.
- Provide weekly/monthly KPI reports on SLA compliance, incident resolution times, and service availability.
- Use monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, vCenter, firewall dashboards) to detect anomalies and proactively address risks.
- Develop dashboards and reporting that demonstrate compliance with security, uptime, and cost management objectives.
- Partner with IT Security to enforce baseline controls across network , systems, and cloud environments.
- Audit firewall rules, AD/AAD logs, SSL/Key Vault certificates, and cloud resource configurations.
- Support compliance with SOC 2, ISO, and NIST-aligned requirements.
- Provide mentorship and cross-training for junior engineers, system administrators, and service desk staff.
- Contribute to IT roadmaps, capacity planning, and enterprise infrastructure strategy.
- Manage vendor engagement for network and hybrid infrastructure platforms.
- Develop and maintain DR and BCP plans for both network and core infrastructure.
- Oversee vendor relationships, support contracts, and procurement of equipment and services.
Education, Skills, & Experience
Education & Experience- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or equivalent combination of education and experience. - 12+ years of IT experience, with 5+ in a senior-level network or infrastructure role.
- Network certifications (CCNA required; CCNP, PCNSE, or equivalent preferred).
- Systems/cloud certifications (MCSA, MCSE, or Azure Administrator Associate preferred).
- Expert networking: Cisco/Meraki routing/switching, OSPF, BGP, QoS, VPN, MPLS, SD-WAN, Palo Alto firewalls.
- Strong knowledge of VMware, HP ProLiant (ILO), Nimble storage, Rubrik, and Azure Backup.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Azure and O365 administration (Azure AD, Intune, Exchange, Defender).
- Familiarity with automation/scripting (PowerShell/Python).
- Strong troubleshooting and vendor management experience.
- Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a 24x7x365 environment.
- Self-starter, collaborative, and adaptable to changing requirements.
