We are actively looking to fill the following full-time role based in the Greater City of Sudbury, Ontario.

Scope of the role
Reporting to the Technical Services and Commercial Manager, the Project Geologist is primarily accountable for the geological aspect of the project to ensure safe, efficient and economically viable extraction of ore. This position plays a critical role in the resource definition through geological mapping and diamond drilling while ensuring geological data integrity and contributing to continuous project development.
The Project Geologist is responsible for overseeing the geological functions within the Victoria Project team. This position bridges the gap between exploration and production, ensuring the integrity of geological data used for decision-making throughout the project development and future production.
The role is hands-on and field-oriented, requiring significant time underground through shaft sinking conveyance, to conduct mapping, sampling, and oversee the drilling activities, while also involving office-based interpretation, modeling, and planning work. It requires a balance of technical geological expertise, operations understanding, project management, and cross-functional collaboration.
The Project Geologist works closely with the exploration geology team, mine planning engineers, drilling contractors, and shaft sinking personnel to ensure orebody knowledge is accurate and up-to-date, directly impacting efficiency, safety and profitability.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Geological Mapping & Data Collection
•Conduct underground geological mapping, structural mapping and sampling.
•Collect, log and interpret core and chip samples to assess orebody continuity and grade distribution.
•Maintain detailed and accurate geological records.
•Provide QA/QC to sulfur testing program.
Drill Program Management
•Design, implement and manage exploration, delineation and definition drill control programs.
•Oversee drilling contractors and ensure adherence to safety and geological standards.
•Interpret drilling data and integrate it into the geological model.
•Coordination of timely and efficient core delivery between underground workings and the Core Management Facility.
Core Management Facility
•Lead the equipment selection and tendering process for all the Core Management Facility furnishings.
•Create and update all procedures pertaining to each step of the core logging process.
•Development of the analytical quality control program.
•Prepare the Scope of Work, tender and execution of the Lab Assay contract.
Geological Modeling and Reporting
•Develop and maintain 3D geological models of ore bodies and structures.
•Prepare geological reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory submissions.
•Monitor and report on geological risks and uncertainties.
•Advise and develop methods to mitigate against geological risk.
•Establish and meet realistic deadlines and ensure the completion of the designated exploration program within budgeted guidelines and specified timeframes.
Resource and Reserve Estimation
•Lead block modeling and resource estimation using geological software (e.g., Leapfrog, Datamine and Deswik).
•Collaborate with the exploration geologist to ensure accurate resource classifications
Health, Safety and Environment Compliance
•Promote the use of strict safety standards in all geological tasks.
•Ensure geological activities are compliant with environmental regulations.
•Conduct risk assessments and contribute to safe work procedures.
Team Management, Training and Innovation
•Develop team as required to support the advance exploration program.
•Provide mentorship to future junior geologists, geo-technicians and field assistants.
•Coordinate activities between geology, engineering, project and operations teams.
•Promote continuous improvement and professional development.
•Keep up to date with respect to new geological concepts and the development and use of innovative technology to optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of explorations programs, and keep up to date with provincial regulations.
•Such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge
•A minimum of 5-8 years of previous experience in a similar role.
•Excellent written and oral communication skills.
•Experience summarizing mineralogy using various quantitative/semi-quantitative analytical techniques.
•Experience in project controls, reporting and contract administration.
•Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office and 3D geology-specific software programs (Datamine/Leapfrog would be an asset).
