Reporting to the Mine Geologist, the Jr. Mine Geologist will assist the Mine Geologist in completing the crucial roles of Grade Control, Mine Development, and Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly Reporting and Reconciliation of mined tonnes and ounces at the Bralorne Gold Mine. The Underground Mine Geologist is ultimately responsible for ensuring the mine is maximizing ore recovery by minimizing dilution. The Jr. Mine Geologist will assist the Mine Geologist with underground mapping, the collection of channel samples using an electric saw, sample dispatch to the lab, and tracking of ore and waste material in the underground mine.
Working with the Mine Technical Services Team, the employee shall, under the guidance of the Mine Geologist, ensure that development in ore is adequately developing along the veins, and ultimately ensure grade control of the deposit, including:
(i) Channel Sampling ore faces underground for grade control. This work requires the use of an 11 lb. electric saw to cut channel samples of gold bearing quartz veins;
(ii) Work with the Mine Geologist to provide ore control direction to the Mining Team, effectively communicating and working with the Mine Operations Team to maximize the value of ore mined;
(iii) Underground face and wall mapping to collect lithological and structural data;
(iv) Potential for face chip sampling, muck sampling, and long-hole sampling for grade control;
(v) Geotechnical inspections of the mined face and walls to identify geotechnical hazard areas;
(vi) Stockpile and Waste Pile management and ore/waste delineation and mark-up;
(viii) When needed, assisting with writing and implementing procedures and provide recommendations and update standard operating procedure documentation;
(ix) When needed, assisting with core logging activities, support surface and underground exploration planning, support/create grade control improvement initiatives;
(x) Additional duties as assigned by the the Mine Manager, Sr. Mine Engineers and Mine Geologists.
A shift work schedule of 16 days on rotation and 12 days off. “Days on” are inclusive of a travel day to site and a travel day home. Travel to/from site is compensated by the company either though direct payment of flights, travel arranged by company personell/vehicles, or mileage paid out to the employee for personal vehicle use. Travel arrangements will be dependent on the employee's home location.
