Senior Manager Organizational & Talent Development
The Opportunity
Solar Turbines is looking for a Senior Manager, Organizational and Talent Development in San Diego, CA. This role supports development and execution of our talent development strategy for our global organization of approximately 10,000 employees in roles from sales to marketing to operations. We’re looking for a strong leader who can partner with senior business and HR leaders to drive our business strategy and enhance our culture and employee experience.
What You Will Do•Direct talent management processes, programs, and practices to ensure the effective and efficient achievement of organizational goals and objectives.
•Lead the global recruiting team to attract and hire talent with the necessary skills for our business.
•Provide leadership to the overall talent lifecycle processes related to building and retaining the talent with the right skills to support our business strategies.
•Assist business unit senior leadership in evaluating the effectiveness of the organization's talent practices, as well as recommending and leading improvement opportunities.
•Lead succession planning and employee development with the business teams, and develop leadership and employee development to build a strong pipeline of talent.
•Develop and implement change management methods and materials to facilitate deployment of talent management programs and processes within a specific organization.
•Lead team of talent management professionals to collaborate effectively with our business leaders, HR teams and centers of excellence and serve as thought leaders to the business and HR.
•Serve as a member of the Solar HR Leadership team and advisor to Solar Senior Leadership.

Succession Planning: Knowledge of policies, techniques, methods and processes of succession planning; ability to identify and develop internal employees for the future fulfillment of an organization's core positions.

•Oversees the implementation of different succession planning projects within an organization.
•Supervises all employees and activities involved in succession planning projects.
•Assists in developing succession planning objectives in line with the organization's overall business objectives.
•Manages the organization's overall succession planning budget.
•Advises on improving the effectiveness of an organization's succession planning processes.
Talent Management: Knowledge of how an organization attracts, recruits, retains, identifies and develops talent; ability to develop the talent required for an organization to achieve its short-term and long-term goals.
Level Expert:
•Creates a system to organize and maintain records of organizational employees.
•Develops organizational best practices for the management of talent.
•Advocates the development of new technologies and tools for talent management.
•Monitors industry trends and promotes industry-wide developments and improvements in talent management.
•Creates guidelines for qualities needed in prospective employees.
•Leads discussions on the historical background and future perspective of talent management.
Training and Development: Knowledge of employee training and development methodologies; ability to ensure that a target population has the knowledge and skills required to meet both tactical and strategic objectives.
Level Extensive Experience:
•Develops targeted programs for management and high potential employees.
•Evaluates internal and external providers to identify the best supplements to the organization's already existing programs.
•Monitors employee progress in specialized programs to ensure that all program goals are met.
•Designs or selects programs that meet prioritized needs and allow for variety in learning styles.
•Coaches others on the use of live instruction and technology-based approaches for diverse groups.
•Consults on how and where to research training issues like tools, delivery methods, programs, etc.

Summary Pay Range:
$169,206.00 - $253,808.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
