POSITION OVERVIEW – Senior Lead Mechanical Design Engineer
The Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer, specializing in Biopharma Life Sciences, collaborates within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers to develop comprehensive construction documents for critical systems, including HVAC (wet and dry), plumbing, controls, and related infrastructure.
- Performs engineering tasks for the design of utilities and HVAC (wet/dry) systems for high technology facilities including cleanrooms, pharmaceutical manufacturing/process facilities and life science facilities
- Prepares mechanical engineering calculations in support of HVAC systems design, including heat load calculations, duct sizing, chilled water hydraulics, static pressure calculations, equipment sizing, and selection
- Plans and schedules discipline deliverables and activities, including man-hour estimation, assigning personnel, and supervision of discipline personnel on the Projects
- Develops manpower and labor cost requirements for a project and monitor them to aid in evaluating project schedule and budget
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff’s specific area of expertise
- Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by discipline team
- Develops of conceptual design, preliminary design, and final design documents, which would include calculations related to sizing and selecting of these systems, the development of Process andInstrumentation Diagrams, general arrangements, and sequences of operation associated with these systems
- Works closely in coordination with the project team and other disciplines as well as other design offices
- Coordinates with disciplines in the preparation and development of the deliverables and ensuring those otherdisciplines’ inputs are incorporated
- Works to build and maintain positive and productive working relationships both internal and external
- Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements
- Other duties as assigned- 10+ years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required
- Good time management skills, strong work ethic, and attention to details
- Individual must possess strong communication and organizational skills
- Strong team player with an ability to build effective working relationships with individuals, department leads, and client representatives
- Energetic and self-motivated
- Works to build and maintain positive and productive working relationships, both internal and external
- Thorough knowledge of codes and common industry standards related to the design of biologics and pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities and systems
- Working knowledge of Microsoft products
- Ability to mentor and train junior staff
