Works-in-Progress Associates (WPA) is seeking a Senior Inspector to become an integral part of our team! The approved candidate will work with MTA Construction and Development Company (MTA C&D) and support the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) Business Unit to provide bridge painting services for one of the two locations within Suffolk County (Main Street North/Sea Road Bridge and Medford/North Country Road Bridge).
This position shall primarily be located directly on site and report to a satellite office as directed. Work will be performed Monday through Friday during the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Weeknight and/or Weekend shifts may be required. The duration of the project is approximately 16 months.
Requirements include, but are not limited to:
•Baccalaureate Degree in engineering/architecture and/or construction related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
•A minimum of 8 years relevant experience in bridge painting and Construction and Project Management. Experience in railroad operations, preferred.
•Association for Material Protection and Performance Certified Coatings Inspector (CIP Level II Certification) or Bridge Coatings Inspector Level II (BCI II Certification). Valid certifications must be maintained throughout the project.
•Demonstrated experience in successfully managing on-site construction staff, particularly on railroad projects.
•Experience performing steel painting inspection services (e.g., bridges, water tanks, and towers).
•Experience with abrasive blasting abatement method typically utilized.
•Experience with railroad engineering practices relevant to bridge painting and construction management services.
•Working knowledge of New York State Department of Transportation (NYS DOT) Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) standards and specifications.
•Must have the ability to travel between various jobsites quickly and efficiently.
•Must maintain valid MTA Roadway Worker Protection Training for the duration of the project.
•Experience in reading and interpreting Containment, as-built, and MPT Plans.
•OSHA 30 certification is required
•Demonstrated proficiency with all applicable software packages including but not limited to MS Windows; MS Office (including Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, and PowerPoint), AutoCAD, and Adobe Acrobat.
