- Oversee sales & use tax filing process managed by an external vendor.
- Prepare, review, and file indirect tax returns (property tax, Ohio CAT, annual registrations, etc.) across multiple jurisdictions.
- Research and interpret state and local tax statutes to ensure compliance and uncover planning opportunities.
- Lead or support indirect tax audits, including compile documentation, negotiate with authorities, and driving resolutions.
- Collaborate with AP, AR, and procurement teams to validate correct tax treatment on transactions.
- Maintain and enhance tax reporting systems and processes (Vertex, SAP, Epicor).
- Support tax planning projects aimed at optimizing indirect tax positions.
- Monitor legislative developments and assess potential impacts on the business.
- Conduct nexus studies and recommend additional filings as needed.
- Provide support to the direct tax team or related initiatives.

A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required, along with a minimum of four (4) years of experience in indirect tax, including sales and use, excise, VAT/GST, and property tax. Candidates should have prior experience in public accounting, consulting, or within a corporate tax department, and demonstrate proficiency in preparing and reviewing state and local indirect tax returns. Familiarity with tax automation tools and ERP systems - such as Vertex, Avalara, Epicor, or SAP - is strongly preferred.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of multistate indirect tax regulations and compliance requirements, along with strong research skills to interpret tax laws, rulings, and technical guidance. Experience in audit defense, nexus studies, and voluntary disclosure processes is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and tax research platforms such as Bloomberg Tax, CCH, and RIA is expected. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, a collaborative spirit, and a willingness to support the income tax team are key. The ability to manage multiple projects efficiently, paired with strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, is required.
Must be able to use PC and it’s office related applications (Word, Excel PowerPoint). Must be able to sit, stand, bend and climb stairs as well as occasional travel among facilities.
Work is generally performed in a clean, well-ventilated office environment. Occasional work may be performed in a warehouse/manufacturing environment that is well lit.
