Are you an analytical tax professional with a keen eye for detail, eager to apply your expertise across both compliance and strategic projects? We are seeking a Tax Analyst to support our Canadian tax compliance, financial reporting, and strategic tax initiatives.
This position reports to the Associate Vice President, Tax, and will be responsible for preparing certain tax filings, assisting with tax provisions, working with external advisors and affiliated client, and supporting various accounting and internal control functions.
- Canadian Tax Compliance:
Prepare select Canadian corporate tax filings in-house, including returns, schedules, and supporting documentation. Research and analyze Canadian tax issues as they arise.
- US Tax Compliance:
Review select straight-forward US tax filings prepared by external service providers and manage the relationship with external advisors regarding US tax matters.
- Tax Provision & Financial Reporting
: Collaborate with the Associate Vice President, Tax, and the Finance team to prepare or review quarterly and annual tax provisions for HDI-managed companies.
- Special Projects:
Support the execution of special projects, including transfer pricing documentation, implementation of new accounting standards, and adoption of new tax rules.
- Internal Controls & Operations
: Assist the risk and compliance team with documenting and testing tax-related internal controls.
- Accounting Support:
Fulfill related accounting duties, including reviewing accounts payable entries, posting banking entries, performing bank reconciliations, and preparing monthly/quarterly GST/HST returns.
- CPA Designation (or nearing completion) is required.
- 2-4+ years of dedicated corporate tax experience, preferably from a public accounting firm or a corporate tax department.- Strong knowledge of Canadian corporate tax and tax accounting principles (IFRS/ASPE).
- Exposure to US tax concepts is a significant asset.
- Exceptional analytical skills and a proactive, detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
