Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company’s portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations.
The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.
Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and proactive Senior HR Business Partner (HRBP) to join our Human Resources team. This position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to leaders and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. This position offers an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop their HR strategic skills and contribute to the overall success of our company. This position will be based out of Round Mountain or Bald Mountain (Elko area), Nevada.
Job Responsibilities
- Consults with leaders, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
- Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with leaders to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
- Supports department leaders on complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
- Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
- Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
- Works closely with leaders and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs.
- Lead HR related projects, short and long term such as wellness programs, recognition committee, and special initiatives.
- Ability to manage company housing, as necessary.
- Assists in coordinating employee engagement events, and new hire orientation as necessary.
- Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to, safety, environmental, confidentiality, and code of conduct.
- Performs other related functions as assigned.- 5+ years’ experience in a HR related role, with a focus on resolving employee related issues.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, or a related field, preferred.
- General understanding of the mining or industrial field preferred.
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational analysis, employee diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently with a minimum amount of direct supervision.
- Ability to lead and mentor others.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and other related systems.
- Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
- Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
- Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
