Accounting Lead/Senior Accountant to work out of our HQ office in Deer Park. The Accounting Lead will report to the Regional Controller and prepare/maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. This position is full time, offering a great benefit package along with 401k, paid holidays, vacation, and sick time.
- Ensure timely and accurate month end closings
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments within the close schedule
- Maintain integrity of General Ledger
- Perform monthly account reconciliations
- Perform variance analysis and commentary
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in timely manner
- Support Regional budgeting and forecasting
- Prepare revenue, cost of sales and SGA budgets
- Explain variances to prior year with commentary
- Improve Financial reporting processes
- Assist in financial reporting packages
- Identify opportunities for improvement
- Support Internal Controls and Compliance
- Ensure accounting practices follow Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Utilization of internal controls to safeguard company assets
- Contribute to ERP/Data system accuracy
- Maintain master data integrity (cost centers, chart of accounts, project data)
- Assist with ERP improvements and testing
- Understand and explain variance analysis
- Project gross margin, budget versus actuals, prior year, and profitability
- Cost Accounting understanding
- Cost and Project accounting experience a plus
- General understanding of Retainage and Work in Progress Accounting
- Understands Time & Material project accounting and Lump Sum/Fixed Price Accounting
- Knowledge of Revenue Recognition Standard and Accounting
- Support Operations Leadership
- collecting and analyzing account information

- Accounts Payable interaction
- Working with AP on assigned tasks to ensure coding accuracy and proper recording on vendor invoices
- Fixed Asset Management:
- Review Detail for fixed assets and work with corporate accounting team
- Communication with Manager and/or Director on work status and client issues that arise
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Follow policies and procedures
- Mentor and Train Junior Staff (if applicable)
- Other duties and tasks assigned by Corporate Management
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field
- At least five to ten years of related experience required.
- Experience with industrial contractor service business, preferred
- Vista Viewpoint experience, preferred
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting
- Problem Analysis and Problem-Solving Skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel preferred) and ERP use
- Deadline Oriented, Self-Starter, Independent /Team Worker, Professional
- Office setting and use of computer
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time
