Are you a skilled environmental engineer looking to take on challenging remediation and site assessment projects across California?
Our client, a leading environmental consulting and engineering firm, is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer to join their remediation and site assessment practice. This role offers the flexibility to work remotely within California while overseeing high-impact environmental projects in both the public and private sectors. You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, geologists, and scientists to deliver innovative, practical solutions to complex environmental challenges.
Key responsibilities for this role will include (but are not limited to):
- Lead the design and development of remediation systems, stormwater treatment solutions, and engineering plans.
- Support compliance for solid waste and landfill projects, including closure planning and utility designs.
- Review and certify Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans.
- Interpret and apply federal, state, and local environmental regulations to project work.
- Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring quality, budget control, and timely delivery.
- Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and consultants to deliver integrated project solutions.
- Provide technical oversight of reports, designs, and work plans prepared by junior staff.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies and clients to support permitting and project approvals.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering technical expertise and project management skills.
Required and desired skillsets, experience, and qualifications for this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- California Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 5–8 years of experience in environmental or civil engineering consulting.
- Hands-on expertise in remediation systems, stormwater treatment, landfill engineering, and closure planning.
- Familiarity with California permitting processes and environmental regulations.
- Experience with utilities or renewable energy projects is a plus.
- Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Independent, proactive, and collaborative working style.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams for reporting and presentations.
