Job Summary
The Environmental Engineer provides expert technical skills and leadership in environmental compliance across all applicable BWO business units, ensuring adherence to all applicable State and Federal environmental regulations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Oversee daily performance tracking of Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) and Continuous Parameter Monitoring Systems (CPMS), while championing efficient data acquisition and management.
- Coordinate CEMS Relative Accuracy Test Audits (RATA) and other stack testing.
- Calculate daily emission levels per SIP and permit requirements.
- Prepare and submit all required UDEQ and EPA reports (e.g., SEDR, AEI, NSPS, MACT, SRU Efficiency, QQQ, RSR).
- Ensure ongoing compliance and reporting for Greenhouse Gas, Air Emissions Inventory, Toxic Release Inventory, Consent Decree, LDAR, and Tank Emissions.
- Proactively collaborate with refinery personnel to resolve emissions performance issues, including upsets and equipment failures.
- Assist with agency inspections and manage environmental subcontractors.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize environmental performance and operational efficiency.
- Provide environmental training and represent the organization at regulatory hearings, legal actions, and legislative meetings.- Compile, analyze, and field-collect data using tools such as Aveva PI Vision, Maximo, Frontline, Tanks ESP+, and Microsoft applications.
- Develop and maintain essential documentation for environmental compliance programs.
- Education: Bachelor's or higher degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective team and regulatory collaboration.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, driving continuous improvement in a dynamic work environment.
- Comfortable with fieldwork, including exposure to elements, equipment, and collaboration with field operators.
- Advanced Regulatory Expertise: Advanced Knowledge and experience with complex environmental regulations (e.g., Clean Air Act, RCRA, CWA, SPCC) in a refinery setting.
- Project Leadership & Experience: Proven track record leading significant environmental compliance projects, ideally with refinery or petrochemical experience (including consulting).
- Technical Specialization: Expertise in advanced emissions quantification or specialized environmental control technologies.
- Environmental Data Analytics: Proficiency in advanced data analysis for performance optimization and trend identification.
