We are looking for a Senior Enterprise Messaging Engineer candidate that will help advance the messaging systems used by the company to accelerate the mission of the company.
As a Senior Enterprise Messaging Engineer, you will play a pivotal role within the organization’s IT infrastructure, ensuring reliable and secure communication across various platforms. This position demands a blend of technical ability and strategic vision, as we design and maintain a sophisticated messaging infrastructure that supports business operations. A comprehensive knowledge base and hands-on experience in messaging technologies are vital for successful performance in this role. The Senior Enterprise Messaging Engineer is expected to remain current with best practices and industry standards to ensure the reliable operation and security of enterprise messaging environments.
The candidate must have expert skills and experience in email architecture, infrastructure, cloud capabilities, security, & networking. The candidate will provide third level support duties for all e-mail services used at Dominion Energy.
A commitment to continuous learning and the ability to stay ahead of emerging trends in messaging technologies will empower the engineer to deliver robust, scalable solutions that drive operational excellence.
- Design, implement, and troubleshoot messaging solutions and infrastructure.
- Perform email migrations, upgrades, and optimizations.
- Complete health checks and assessments of current solutions, provide best practice recommendations, and implement necessary changes to improve reliability and remediate vulnerabilities.
- Write scripts for various administrative tasks.
- Leverage integration tools and modules for automation & workflow.
- Provide third-level support for desktop, browser, and mobile email clients.
- Escalate issues to other IT support teams or vendor support when necessary.
- Monitor service health, usage reports, and alerts via product admin centers and other IT tools.
- Will work within the current messaging team responsible for email services providing excellent support and functionality for Dominion Energy.
- Participate in on call rotation that may require occasional after-hours work.
- Performing in a high-pressure environment with a positive attitude while resolving issues promptly is essential.Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
- Expert technical skills and understanding of email technologies and products:
- Exchange online, Exchange server, & hybrid architecture.
- Microsoft Defender and Purview.
- Active Directory architecture, Azure, Entra ID, and Entra Connect.
- Secure SMTP & IMAP.
- ProofPoint email security and gateway appliances, including Linux based OS.
- Thorough understanding of enterprise messaging protocols, cloud-based solutions, and evolving cybersecurity standards.
- Expertise in email architecture, infrastructure, cloud capabilities, security, and networking.
- Ability to engage in both high-level architectural planning and hands-on technical execution.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong analytical mindset, adaptability, attention to detail, & troubleshooting skills and ability to pinpoint root-cause.
- Knowledge and experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and Load Balancers, ADFS, Azure services and IaaS, Entra ID and SAML, and networking concepts.
- Strong understanding of email security controls and how to apply them within Enterprise.
- Experience of working with SPF, DKIM, DMARC, Anti-Spam, Anti-Malware, Threat Response, and other security measures.
- Experience with the management of industry standard server engineering tools and practices, including Windows Server 2019/2022 in Enterprise, Virtual Machines and vendor appliances.
- Strong skills and experience with Powershell, Microsoft Graph, and other APIs are a must.
- Must be self-starters and quick learners who are not afraid to ask questions.
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
Preferred Discipline(s): Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or technical equivalent.
Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
