The Senior Benefits Administrator is responsible for managing and improving employee benefits programs, ensuring accurate administration, compliance with regulatory requirements, and delivering a positive employee experience. This role serves as the primary point of contact for benefits-related inquiries, oversees vendor relationships, leads annual enrollment processes, and identifies process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency in benefits administration.
- Administer and oversee employee benefit programs including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, FSA/HSA, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and other ancillary benefits
- Serve as the main liaison between the organization, employees, and benefit providers, resolving complex issues and ensuring high-quality service delivery
- Lead the open enrollment process, including plan setup, communications, vendor coordination, and employee support
- Maintain accurate benefits data within HRIS/payroll systems, performing regular audits to ensure data integrity and compliance
- Interpret and apply federal, state, and local benefits regulations (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, FMLA, etc.), ensuring organizational compliance
- Partner with payroll to ensure accurate and timely benefits deductions and adjustments
- Manage vendor relationships, monitor service agreements, and participate in vendor evaluations and contract renewals
- Prepare and analyze benefits reports, cost projections, and utilization data to support decision-making and cost-containment strategies
- Develop, document, and refine benefits administration processes to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior HR or benefits team members
- Respond to and resolve escalated employee benefit questions with professionalism and confidentiality
- Support benefits-related projects such as plan design changes, system upgrades, mergers/acquisitions, and policy updates
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in benefits administration, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role- Strong knowledge of employee benefits plans, processes, and applicable laws/regulations
- Experience with HRIS and benefits administration platforms (Workday, ADP, UKG, SAP, etc.)
- Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
