SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Senior Engineer, Enterprise Networks provides experienced and advanced engineering services to design and implement communications infrastructure for the SCADA Network systems as well as for IT Network systems where IT/OT (Information Technology/Operational Technology) Convergence philosophies can be applied. The Senior Engineer leads the design and implementation of highly technical network and communications equipment and software enabling the safe, reliable, efficient and economical control and monitoring of SaskEnergy’s transmission and distribution pipeline systems. This includes the provision, supervision and coordination of technical services for engineering activities or project requirements, ensuring sound application of engineering principles, industry practices and technological advancement, as well as identification and recommendation of effective business solutions to support departmental and corporate objectives.
Position Details* Non-union - This position is permanent full time.
Key Accountabilities* Review and approve advanced electrical engineering designs with focus on SCADA network hardware, wiring and protocols.
•Design and implement SCADA network and communication topologies making effective provisions for public and employee physical and cyber safety in accordance with the legislated regulatory requirements for SCADA networks.
•Oversee staff and contractor designs, software implementations and design standards to ensure company standards are met.
•Manage major projects and/or long-term programs of a multidisciplinary or complex nature for new SCADA network infrastructure and SCADA network improvements ensuring safety and security are considered paramount in designs.
•Develop business plans to prioritize SCADA network infrastructure upgrades to ensure network reliability and supportability remain high.
•Provide technical support by applying advanced engineering principles in the investigation, analysis and resolution of network and communications problems using various network hardware and software tools.
•Develop and deliver advanced technical training for operators and technical support personnel for technologies such as serial and IP based communications.
•Develop, prepare and present plans and business cases to optimize complex control center network systems, integrated facilities and processes.
•Participate in the development and delivery of information provided for facilitating change management of operational and cyber-security network improvements.
•Identify opportunities, challenge current practices, and provide advice for Enterprise Networks maintenance and support strategies to ensure alignment with industry trends and best practices.
•Other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities* Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Computer or Software Systems is preferred, others may also be considered).
•Professional Engineer Designation registered to practice in Saskatchewan.
•Eight (8) years of progressive engineering experience related to communication network systems and OT networks in the oil and gas industry, including working knowledge of industry standard SCADA networking equipment and protocols.
•Demonstrated competency in software, computer, communications and cyber security.
•Strong working knowledge of SCADA best practices, standards, and operating procedures.
•Ability to work on a team while building and maintaining effective relationships.
•Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.
A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
Additional Information* Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters, is required on occasion.
•A Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
