The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager of Infrastructure, the Senior Infrastructure Analyst is responsible for overseeing the server, storage and backup environments across geographical datacenters to ensure high levels of availability and security for our supported business applications. This role involves planning and overall design of the environment, cost management, as well as oversight of a managed service provider and related service level agreements. As a senior role, activities will include both hands on work as well as architectural assessment and implementation of best practices to support the achievement of Parkland’s goals.
Responsibilities:
•Administer, monitor and manage the datacenter infrastructure to ensure everything runs smoothly and securely.
•Recommends schedules and perform or coordinate software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases.
•Monitor and report on the performance of the managed service provider identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
•Administer, configure and troubleshoot VMWare and tools across multiple datacenters and clusters.
•Maintain accurate and up to date documentation for policies and procedures.
•Configure and manage virtual and physical storage environments and ensure effective capacity management.
•Monitoring system performance to ensure everything runs smoothly and securely.
•Providing technical support when requested using Parkland ticketing system.
•Performs backup audits; and participate and coordinate routine recovery testing with the partner provider.
•Participate in major incidents and root cause analysis.
•Involvement in project work across the IT environment to provide design and guidance or hands on support for implementation of new initiatives and technologies.
Requirements:
•University or technical degree/diploma in computer science or related discipline.
•Strong understanding of ITIL principles and practices in an enterprise environment.
•Minimum 5 years’ experience in a progressive and responsible role as a Systems Analyst (datacenter, virtualization, storage, etc.).
•Hands on experience with VMWare Clusters and Tools; Various Operating Systems; LAN/WAN; Security; Storage hardware and software; Cloud environments (AWS/Azure); Scripting; Commercial backup tools and processes; and regular disaster recovery testing.
•Ability to provide Architectural guidance for their area of expertise, working with other teams including solution delivery and application development.
•Capacity to analyze and comprehend issues during incidents and provide guidance to teams to help reduce down time or outages.
•Highly analytical and driven to identify new opportunities or solutions.
•Outgoing and energetic personality with strong interpersonal and team skills.
•Experience auditing an outsourced service provider and negotiating and managing service level agreements and contracts.
