SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Senior Engineer, System Operations provides advanced engineering services that lead to the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of transmission, distribution and storage assets, resulting in a sustained high level of service reliability to customers. This includes application of engineering principles and technical support related to 24/7 province wide system operation, enterprise outage management and control room activities.
Position Details* Non-union. This position is permanent full time.
Key Accountabilities* Develop, review and approve short and medium term (daily, and up to two year) forecasts and plans related to supply, delivery, and storage activities.
•Identify key capacity issues, constraints, and optimizations, and develop solutions to manage or improve these scenarios.
•Deliver on assessments and analysis for daily customer nomination activities, SCADA operating and reporting activities, and system modelling activities.
•Deliver and communicate plans and recommendations to internal and external groups with respect to short term transmission, distribution, and storage operating requirements; operation of new assets or customer facilities, changes to system operation that provide capacity or economic benefit, and capital project review and integration into system operation.
•Deliver and approve daily customer support activities, enterprise outage management support activities, field support activities, or control room support activities based on system operation.
•Provide engineering support for Gas Control.
•Deliver and approve key performance indicators for system operation, outage management, and control room operations at the field, management, and executive level.
•Other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Petroleum, Industrial, or Electronics is preferred, others may also be considered).
•Professional Engineer Designation registered to practice in Saskatchewan.
•Eight (8) years of progressive post-graduate engineering experience and demonstrated competency in the field of practice.
•Engineering experience related to pipeline system, compression, storage asset operation or system modelling would be an asset.
•Strong working knowledge and understanding of natural gas industry practices and associated standards and codes as well as any associated regulatory requirements.
•Ability to work on a team while building and maintaining effective relationships.
•Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.
A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
Additional Information* Travel, including overnight stays away from headquarters, is required on occasion.
