Senior Economic Advisor, Energy Markets

Lead and conduct energy market and economic analysis in support of API’s senior management, policy, communications, and government relations functions, for external consumption by API members, policymakers, and the public. Identify, analyze, and communicate information to raise internal API as well as public understanding of energy markets and implications of energy policies. Enhance API’s capacity to explain market developments of short- and long-run significance and inform API’s advocacy. This position reports to the Director for Energy Market Analysis within the Office of Economics and Research.

Duties/Responsibilities

+ U.S. and international crude oil, petroleum product, and natural gas markets. + U.S. and international macroeconomic data and indicators as they relate to energy demand and overall economic conditions. + Capital markets, company financial indicators, and industry economic contributions, employment, and investment trends. + Relevant economic and financial metrics covering the oil and natural gas value chain: upstream, midstream, downstream, and international trade flows. + Other segments of the energy industry and relevant commodity markets as needed.
