We are seeking a Registered Energy Advisor (REA) certified with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) to join our growing team based in Nanaimo, BC. This is a rewarding opportunity for a motivated professional to contribute meaningfully to energy efficiency and sustainability in residential buildings, while enjoying the autonomy of field work in a supportive team environment.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, proven customer service skills, and practical experience in energy modeling and diagnostics for both new and existing homes.
Key Responsibilities:
•Conduct EnerGuide Version 15 residential energy assessments in accordance with NRCan standards and guidelines.
•Perform blower door testing, data collection, and detailed HOT2000 energy modeling.
•Clearly communicate energy performance results and recommend energy-efficient upgrades to homeowners, builders, and other clients in a respectful, professional manner.
•Complete BC Energy Step Code modeling and compliance documentation for new construction projects.
•Support building envelope analysis, diagnostics, and troubleshooting for residential construction.
•Ensure timely and accurate data entry, file submission, and documentation per NRCan and company standards.
Qualifications:
•Must be a Registered Energy Advisor with NRCan, or have successfully completed the NRCan Energy Advisor Exam and be eligible for registration.
•Minimum 1 year of field experience conducting residential energy assessments or a related building performance role.
•Strong understanding of building science principles, house-as-a-system concepts, and energy-efficient construction practices.
•Skilled in interpreting blueprints, construction details, and architectural drawings.
•Experience using HOT2000, RETScreen, or other modeling software.
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills—able to guide and educate homeowners and clients with clarity and professionalism.
•Proficient with geometry, basic calculations, and computer-based modeling tools.
•Self-motivated with strong time management and organizational skills.
•Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and a clean driving record.
•Must be able to pass a criminal record check.
Additional Assets (Preferred but Not Required):
•Experience with mechanical (HVAC) or plumbing design.
•Familiarity with NECB or commercial energy code compliance.
•Understanding of ASHRAE Level 1 or 2 audits.
•Knowledge of renewable energy systems (e.g., solar PV, heat pumps).
•Previous work in client relations or business development.
