X-energy is seeking professionals to join our Engineering team in the role of Senior Director, Engineering Strategy and Operations. This position is responsible for partnering closely with the Head of Engineering to shape and drive organizational priorities, increase executional clarity, and enable operational excellence across the Engineering organization. overseeing the effectiveness and alignment of the Engineering organization. This role requires technical fluency, strong business acumen, and strong communication and leadership skills. The role serves as a force multiplier for Engineering leadership—driving cross-functional alignment, guiding strategic planning processes, and overseeing execution of high-impact initiatives.
Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities
- Partner with the Head of Engineering to define, refine, and operationalize the Engineering vision, strategy, and priorities.
- Serve as a key liaison between Engineering and executive leadership, ensuring technical strategies are aligned with company goals and well-communicated at all levels.
- Lead cross-functional strategic initiatives that require Engineering leadership engagement, serving as an integrator and decision enabler.
- Oversee operational cadences including quarterly business reviews, annual strategic planning, roadmap alignment, and department-wide communications.
- Lead change management efforts to improve organizational health, engagement, and execution across Engineering.
- Mentor and directly manage the Manager, Chief of Staff and support staff, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Act as Engineering’s representative in executive-level forums, surfacing insights, resolving misalignments, and ensuring coordination on technical programs.
- Collaborate with other senior leaders (Product, Design, Project Leadership, Operations, etc.) to drive cross-functional initiatives and operational alignment.
- Lead special projects and high-priority efforts that require executive oversight, technical understanding, and influence across organizational boundaries.
- Synthesize technical and organizational discussions into strategic narratives and actionable insights for senior audiences.
- Develop and deliver high-impact presentations and communications for internal and external stakeholders, including Board and C-suite engagement.
- Monitor organizational sentiment, surface concerns, and guide course correction where necessary.
- Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Typically, seventeen years of engineering experience.
- Experience leading large-scale initiatives.
- Experience synthesizing complex technical information and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation
As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.). A reasonable estimate for this position at the level of experience required is:
$184,500- $307,500. The compensation for this position is comprised of base salary plus an annual short term incentive which is variable, based on scope of responsibility and achievement of goals.
