The Senior Construction Manager (SrCM) is responsible for the complete oversight of field execution for construction projects. This position leads all efforts to ensure safety, schedule, quality, and budget goals are met or exceeded. The SrCM blends advanced construction expertise with strategic planning, leadership, and a solutions-oriented mindset to deliver high-profile, complex infrastructure projects, by successfully engaging the customer, subcontractor, and Beta’s project team. This position interprets policies as required; maintains official project documentation and company property. Other duties include improving systems and execution standards. Perform additional duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Establishes project goals for site(s) and align teams to ensure successful attainment through complete field execution ownership and leading through influence.
•Owns relationship with customer, subcontractor, and project team to ensure collaboration through clear communication and situational awareness.
•Evaluates construction phases and evaluates improvements in design or construction techniques to improve cost or schedule based on experience or input from stakeholders.
•Manage contracts and subcontracts to maintain Beta’s position on cost and schedule by managing scope creep, acceleration/delays, and reserving our rights.
•Establish and maintain project schedule with weekly updates and monthly reporting to evaluate gains/slips with potential impacts to achieve success of project goals and recovery plan as required.
•Ownership of project financials to maintain or improve project profitability and to maintain or improve positive cashflow through accurate projections and proactive change order management.
•Exhibit leadership qualities that motivate stakeholders through influence to achieve project goals. Capable of mentoring both experienced and inexperienced team members to grow them in their roles within the organization.
•Provides safety oversight on the project ensuring that subcontractors are providing adequately trained personnel and implementing safety programs required by Beta and/or the customer.
•Addresses safety issues, documents safety trainings and meetings, accidents, and performs on-site safety audits to maintain compliance.
•Provides quality oversight on construction projects ensuring that subcontractors are using correct construction techniques and acceptable construction standards to construct the project to Beta’s construction standards and drawings.
•Implement Quality Assurance Programs, set forth by Beta Engineering, by performing quality inspections to ensure compliance and documenting results on provided forms.
•Provides procurement oversight by ensuring that subcontractors are receiving, inspecting, and logging all material received by the project. Coordinates correct handling and storage procedures by the subcontractors; and communicate with Project Manager about materials received and their condition.
•Maintains, organizes, and ensures cleanliness of site office, job site, company vehicle and all Beta supplied equipment.
•Provides support to project team by reviewing project documents and by maintaining and communicating field changes.
•Creates and distributes all required daily/weekly and ad hoc reports for submittal to project team; including documentation collected from the customer and/or subcontractor. Distributes information back to customers and/or subcontractors from project team.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•The Senior Construction Manager will be expected to mentor and lead other CMs through influence.
•The role will be designated at times to lead multiple sites.
•Additional duties as assigned by the Manager of Construction Management, as well as Construction Team Leader.
EXPECTATIONS:
•This position requires company paid travel and accommodation from site to site. Travel requirement is roughly 100% of the time with periodic personal time granted by supervisor, as business needs warrant.
•Performs quality work within deadlines with limited direct supervision. Interacts professionally with other employees and customers.
•Works effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
•Works independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees, teams, subcontractors, and organizations.
•Communicate regularly with supervisors about construction issues.
•Beta Engineering’s representative on the construction site. Must display an attitude and attributes that positively reflect Beta’s values.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
•10+ years of experience in high-voltage electrical construction, with proven success managing AIS, GIS, and FACTS projects.
•OSHA 30 Construction Safety Certification required.
•Advanced understanding of construction techniques, subcontractor coordination, safety regulations, and QA/QC programs.
•Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Project, and construction collaboration platforms.
•Demonstrated success in high-impact decision-making, scope alignment, and customer relationship management.
•Ability to interpret and apply technical drawings, specifications, and design packages.
•High attention to detail and organizational capability, especially in schedule-driven environments.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
•This position requires 100% field presence at job site locations. Please refer to the addendum
“Working in the Field” for information about requirements and conditions to be met while working in the field.
•Use of company vehicle required. A successful Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) is required.
Salary range is estimated. Actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications and application of any geographic salary differential.
