Job Summary
The Secondary Technician is an entry level position that provides support to the production process. This role focuses on assisting in tasks that involve finishing and assembling parts and products. This position may involve operating auxiliary equipment, performing basic maintenance, and ensuring parts meet quality standards before they proceed to the next stage of production or shipment.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting Technicians and Operators:
•Provide hands-on support to primary operators and technicians during production tasks, such as material handling, operating PEM machine, and overhead deburring machine.
•Assist in monitoring and adjusting equipment settings as required to ensure smooth production processes.
•Help with loading/unloading materials or products from machines or workstations.
•Use hand tools, power tools, or light machinery to assist in the assembly of products or subassemblies.
Finishing and Quality Control:
•Perform secondary finishing operations, such as cleaning, deburring, polishing, drilling, tapping, counter boring, or reaming parts, to prepare them for the next step in production.
•Set up and operate straightening equipment, such as presses or hydraulic machines, to correct any warping or bending of machined parts.
•Inspect materials and finished products for defects, ensuring they meet quality standards and customer specifications.
•Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and checklists to ensure that parts are completed in compliance with quality guidelines.
•Conduct first-article inspections and in-process quality checks to ensure parts meet strict tolerances using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, protractors, and gauges.
•Identify defects or irregularities and make proper adjustments or corrections as needed to ensure quality standards are maintained.
•Collaborate with the quality control department for final inspections and to resolve any dimensions, tolerances, or quality issues.
Safety and Efficiency
•Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, steel-toed safety shoes, and hearing protection while on the shop floor.
•Maintain a clean and organized work environment to prevent accidents and ensure efficient operations.
•Optimize machining processes to improve production efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
Documentation and Reporting:
•Log into all jobs via Global Shop when working on work orders to maintain accurate tracking of labor and materials used.
•Maintain accurate records of production, including completed work orders, quality documents, and quantities produced.
•Report any equipment malfunctions, material shortages, or production delays to the supervisor promptly.
Continuous Improvement:
•Actively participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities, including workshops, seminars, and certification programs to enhance job-related skills and knowledge, as required.
•Suggest improvements to the manufacturing process or machine operations to increase productivity and quality.
•Perform all other duties as assigned or required to support the team's goals and maintain efficient operations.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
•High school diploma or equivalent required.
•Previous experience in a production or manufacturing environment is a plus but not required.
•Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment operation preferred.
Physical Requirements:
•Frequently lift and carry materials weighing 25-50 pounds and perform tasks like standing, walking, bending, and crouching for 8-10 hours per day.
•Possess strong hand-eye coordination, quick reflexes, and good depth perception for operating machinery, forklifts, and overhead cranes safely.
•Work comfortably in loud, vibration-prone environments with varying temperatures.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $19.00 per hour
