Scrum Master (contract)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our team in a role that emphasizes facilitation, collaboration, and coaching within an Agile environment. This position is focused on supporting the AMI Meter Data team in delivering high-quality data services for customer and distribution teams. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that Agile best practices are adhered to, enhancing team effectiveness, and driving organizational agility. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a transformative initiative within a leading energy company.

- Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and reviews.

- Support a team of 12–14 by removing blockers, resolving dependencies, and fostering collaboration.

- Ensure proper housekeeping and accurate updates within tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Jira Align.

- Partner with Product Owners, Solution Architects, and other business leaders to align delivery goals.

- Act as a servant leader and coach, helping the team improve its Agile maturity and delivery outcomes.

- Promote transparency and accountability by maintaining metrics and reporting progress.

- Foster a collaborative environment, breaking down silos and encouraging shared ownership.

- Support Xcel Energy’s Agile transformation initiatives and the new “Homeroom” concept, contributing to best practices and alignment with the XE One Way methodology.

Skills

- Strong communication, collaboration, and facilitation skills.

- Proven ability to lead Agile development initiatives and coach teams in Agile practices.

- Skilled at problem-solving and conflict resolution.

- Ability to differentiate between project management and Scrum Master responsibilities while adhering to Agile values.

- Experience working in large, matrixed organizations.

Qualifications

Required:

- 5–7 years of professional experience as a Scrum Master.

- Certified Scrum Master (CSM, PSM, or equivalent).

- Proficiency with Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, Jira Align).

Preferred

- Experience with ServiceNow.

- Background in utilities, energy, or data services (nice to have, not required).

- Experience supporting Agile adoption at an organizational level beyond team practices.
