We’re looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to join our team in Houston, TX and take ownership of our centralized contracts function. In this role, you’ll bring structure and clarity to how we manage customer agreements — from building efficient processes to spotting risks before they become issues. - Be the primary point of contact for all contract lifecycle activities;
- Lead process ownership and bring operational clarity to customer agreements;
- Collaborate with Sales, Finance, and Executive Leadership to ensure compliance;
- Build scalable, repeatable workflows and contribute to continuous process improvement.
- Build and maintain a centralized repository of all customer contracts;
- Track volume commitments, pricing structures, renewal dates, notice periods, and other key terms;
- Monitor special clauses to ensure compliance and timely action;
- Review new and existing agreements for legal, financial, and operational risks;
- Flag and escalate unfavorable terms to appropriate stakeholders;
- Ensure contract terms align with SPL’s policies, pricing, and service capabilities;
- Partner with Sales, Finance, and Leadership to maintain compliance;
- Create scalable, repeatable workflows for contract management;
- Develop standard templates and fallback positions with legal input;
- Educate internal teams on contract policies, processes, and common risks;
- Act as the central point of contact for all contract-related matters;
- Support contract activities tied to RFPs, amendments, renewals, and terminations;
- Collaborate with the CAO or legal advisors on complex or high-risk agreements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Legal Studies, or related field;
- 5+ years in contract management, legal operations, or similar role;- Strong understanding of commercial contracts (MSAs, SOWs, renewals, etc.);
- Exceptional organizational, project management, and multitasking skills;
- High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and documentation;
- Familiarity with contract management systems (e.g., SharePoint, DocuSign, etc.);
- Experience in a compliance and/or service-driven industry such as Environmental, Energy, or Testing preferred;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership;
- Self-starter with the ability to bring structure and clarity to unstructured processes.
