This position is based at our Calgary Office working a 9/80 schedule.
Reporting to the Manager - Marketing, the Scheduler - Crude Oil is responsible for managing the logistics (pipeline, and trucking) of all crude, condensate and LPG movements and understands the operations and commercial implications. The Scheduler - Crude Oil plays a critical role in the crude trading operations organization and will be accountable to manage losses, prevent profit leakage, and analyze and report on all aspects of crude movements within our remit. The Scheduler - Crude Oil will interface extensively with NWR’s main feedstock providers and align with our long-term processing agreements.
- Manages crude scheduling to pipelines, terminals, and third parties and ensures alignment of supply and production commitments with day-to-day refinery operations; including monthly pipeline nominations of crude, LPG and CO2;
- Supports Crude Coordinator (Crude Trader / Marketer) and develops a detailed an extensive understanding of supply and logistics to provide commercial feedback and value add;
- Provides solutions and ideas to maximize and/or improve profit on existing deals and/or explore hidden values and/or options;
- Liaise with third party counterparties and staff to resolve and eliminate issues impacting schedules, supply and settlements;
- Communicates effectively trading needs to the Crude Coordinator (Crude Trader/Marketer) and other staff members;
- Responsible for NWR LPG mix optimization via negotiating short term sale agreements with third parties;
- Responsible for managing NWR LPG mix optimization from a volume and margin perspective;
- Ensures that day-to-day orders and schedules are prepared accurately and timely; manages tanks and inventories;
- Performs the daily task of quantifying and analyzing discrepancies between the plan, schedules and actual performance; analyzes and communicates results to the responsible parties to take necessary corrective actions and escalates issues where appropriate;
- Leads or supports the month end process for reporting production volumes and inventories in systems and for Finance group to reconcile gaps;
- Interfaces with Refinery Schedulers to resolve customer/vendors issues in a timely fashion;
- Complies with various government reporting requirements; contributes to maximizing commercial value;
- All other duties as assigned.

- This role is a full-time role located in the Calgary head office;
- Required relevant minimum of 5 years of scheduling experience with a focus on crude and condensate systems and logistics in Western Canada is required;
- University degree in a related field is preferred, however a combination of work experience and education will be considered;
- Has a well-established network of pipeline schedulers in Western Canada;
- Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment;
- Effective planning and organization skills, including problem solving and troubleshooting, strong analytical skills and attention to detail are essential;
- Demonstrated computer application skills with a strong proficiency in Excel;
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities with a detail and accuracy-oriented mindset;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong customer service skills.
