Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Sales and Estimating Representative to join our steel roofing and siding team. This position is primarily office-based, focusing on handling inbound inquiries, preparing estimates, managing client communications, and supporting the sales process through accurate documentation and pricing. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical aptitude and excellent organizational skills who enjoys working in a structured environment with minimal fieldwork.
Key Responsibilities:
Office-Based Sales Functions:
•Respond to phone, email, and web-based inquiries from contractors, builders, and homeowners regarding steel roofing and siding products.
•Assist customers with product selection, pricing, and availability, leveraging in-depth knowledge of our offerings.
•Build and maintain positive relationships with repeat customers and accounts through consistent communication and service.
•Prepare and follow up on sales proposals, quotes, and order confirmations in a timely manner.
•Coordinate with production, purchasing, and shipping departments to ensure timely order fulfillment.
Estimating Functions:
•Review architectural drawings, blueprints, and customer specifications to create accurate material take-offs and cost estimates.
•Use estimating software and internal tools to generate quotes for steel roofing and siding systems.
•Maintain organized records of estimates, customer correspondence, and job files.
•Collaborate with the sales and project management teams to ensure pricing accuracy and job scope alignment.
•Monitor pricing trends and supplier quotes to maintain up-to-date cost information.
Administrative & Support Tasks:
•Track sales opportunities and estimate statuses.
•Assist in preparing formal bid packages and documentation as required.
•Provide technical support and documentation to internal teams and clients when needed.
•Participate in regular sales and estimating meetings to review goals, pipeline, and customer feedback.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
•Previous experience in construction estimating or inside sales (preferably in roofing, siding, or metal building materials).
•Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and estimating software.
•Ability to read and interpret construction plans and technical specifications.
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
•High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
•Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced office environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Knowledge of steel panel profiles, trim components, fasteners, and accessories.
•Familiarity with common construction terminology and installation methods for roofing and siding.
•Experience with order entry tools used in construction product sales.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
•Primarily an office-based position.
•Occasional lifting of product samples or binders (up to 25 lbs).
•Regular use of computer, phone, and office equipment.
•Standard work hours with occasional flexibility for project deadlines.
