DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Conduct new hire safety orientations
•Conduct on the job safety training for new hires and job transfers
•Conduct crane and forklift operator training and annual evaluations
•Assist in all safety incident investigations, ensure completion of all reporting and manage implementation of all corrective measures
•Assist in taking teammates to clinic to drug test if an incident were to occur.
•Ensure Safety Management System is implemented at the facility (forms, policies, procedures, revisions, etc.)
•Point person for all internal and external safety audits/inspections and recommended corrective actions
•Work with HR coordinator/plant manager to schedule hearing tests and noise monitoring assessments as needed
•Conduct routine safety inspections, observe general work practices and enforce safety policies and procedures; when an unsafe work practice is observed, coach employees on safe work procedures
•Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials
•Maintain the Job Safety Analysis program
•Schedule, lead, and document all safety committee meetings
•Assist as needed in leading shift safety meetings; post and communicate safety messages/alerts from corporate safety as needed
•Schedule, conduct, and properly document monthly safety training topics with all employees
•Facilitate the Safety Rewards Program at the plant
•Monitor compliance with environmental health and safety program
•Ability to occasionally travel overnight as required.

•Knowledge of and ability to comply with safety rules and requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A high school diploma and at least 1 year of Steel Technologies experience with an excellent safety record is preferred.
The following certifications are strongly preferred:
•OSHA 30 Hour General Industry
•Certified First Responder (First Aid, CPR, AED)
Steel Technologies experience and preferred certifications may be substituted with industrial safety experience and training when competency in the position is demonstrated.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This is a safety sensitive position. This work consists of an equal distribution of time between an office setting, characterized by minimal to moderate noise stemming from computers, printers, and people, and a manufacturing setting where noise levels range from moderate to high due to machinery and equipment. There may be a slight inclination towards spending more time in the manufacturing setting. The temperature of the facility will vary based on outside weather conditions. The use of personal protective equipment for safety compliance may be required as deemed necessary by management.
