The Safety Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day Occupational Health & Safety of employees/projects across Great River Hydro, LLC. This position works to minimize the organization’s safety liability by ensuring all work-related activities/projects are complied with in accordance with all Federal, State, and agency regulations. This involves the collection of various types of information and observations of work being done, while maintaining the highest degree of safety and ethical standards. This position may be 24/7/on call as needed for weather/safety/environmental events.
This role travels as needed to company offices and facilities located in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Limited overnight and out of the region travel could be required.
Responsibilities
•Coordinates and oversees the day-to-day Occupational Health & Safety of employees across GRH.
•Facilitates annual Health & Safety tests/physicals including hearing tests, DOT physicals, etc. in accordance with GRH standards.
•Facilitates classroom/online/hands on Health & Safety training in accordance with GRH standards.
•Maintains safety departmental files, reviews company Health & Safety programs, completes and submits OSHA logs, filings, company permits, etc.
•Reviews proposed projects/job tasks for safety related risks and requirements such as equipment, additional training, etc.
•Updates, maintains and implements all GRH Health & Safety programs/procedures/requirements.
•Performs facility/project inspections for safety compliance.
•Coordinates accident/incident investigations and associated reporting.
•Partners and builds alliances with internal and external stakeholders to process and communicate information.
•Attends and participates in various internal/external calls/meetings and inspections.
•Stays abreast of current policies, regulations, required trainings, and ensures compliance with associated regulatory agencies.
•Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety or related field of study, however, relevant work experience considered in lieu of degree.
•5-7 years progressive experience in a safety/field environment; experience in hydro/union environments is a plus.
•Must be able to pass a fit for duty physical exam.
•Basic knowledge of related state/federal/agency safety/industry regulations.
•Ability to design, implement and deliver training programs in a comfortable and concise manner.
•Strong organizational skills.
•Builds constructive and effective relationships and establishes rapport.
•Energetic about challenges, self-motivated and able to focus on long term objectives.
•Open and professional communication skills (verbal and written, business emails, etc.) coupled with active listening skills.
•Strong time-management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
•Ability to travel as needed throughout MA, NH, VT.
•Excellent PC skills, including MS Office with an emphasis on SharePoint and excel.

Pay: $100,300.00 - $129,200.00 per year
