The HSE Manager position is responsible for the Company’s HSE policies, work methods, training development, and deployment across all company operations.
Job Responsibilities:
•Supports Executive Management in the development of safety related goals for the Company
•Takes lead to develop, maintain, and enforce the Company’s HSE policies, guidelines, and awareness programs.
•Ensures Company maintains passing grades and approvals with third party compliance sites such as ISNet, PEC, Avetta, etc.
•Manages the Companies DOT and Non-DOT drug testing programs.
•Works with Customers to ensure our Employee’s have all necessary equipment and training to work on site.
•Directs all safety related work of an Independent HSE Contractor located in Canada
•Ensures, in accordance with Company guidelines, the implementation, updating, review, and auditing of the Company HSE Systems.
•Monitors the effective implementation of appropriate Safety and Environment System procedures and provides for their updating in line with changes in legislation and Company directives.
•Motivates and familiarizes all Company personnel with the importance of complying with Company system procedures and all safety equipment provided.
•Assists all Departments in dealings with Clients in all issues regarding Health and Safety at work.
•Conducts safety audits both internal and external and implements appropriate remediation initiatives.
•Takes the lead in accident/incident investigations and works with employee’s to mitigate the risk of future incidents.
•Carries out analysis of accident/incident statistics, identifying trends and suggesting improvement plans.
•Carries out all in-house safety training.
•Evaluate what PPE is necessary to perform an employee’s job duties and ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE.
•Work with employees and achieve positive change while maintaining Profire culture.
•Maintains positive and proactive relations with managers and employees, as well as our customers and regulatory agencies.
•Carries out safety audits on Sub-contractors.
•Liaises with Clients and employees on safety related issues.
•Performs risk analysis of new job site activities and develop written safety procedures..
•Provides safety support and advice, including supervision on preparation of plans and procedures for initial contract start up activities.
•Assures the Company is compliant with all required safety rules and standards.
•Maintain a working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, Life Safety Code, ANSI, NFPA 70E and other regulatory standards.
•Assists in job hazard assessments (JHA) or job site analysis (JSA) by participating in processes and procedures and researching industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
•Assists in maintaining appropriate workers compensation insurance in all jurisdictions.
Job Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational, Health & Safety (or related field) is preferred, or minimum of 5 years’ experience in an Environmental, Health and Safety position; Technical writing a plus.
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
•Proven written and verbal communication skills to interact with all levels within the organization.
•Technical, analytical, and systematic problem-solving skills.
•Exemplary organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and completed delegated tasks appropriately.
•Operates effectively in a team environment.
•Strong Microsoft Office365 skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
•Willing to work different shifts and travel 5-10% of the time.
•Relationship-building skills in the safety community, and the ability to collaborate with the executive team.
•Experience with OSHA and environmental compliance requirements.
•Certified Safety Professional Certificate or equivalent work experience preferred
