Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Management System (SMS) Manager/Senior Manager to oversee and lead the implementation, management, and continuous improvement of our company's Safety Management System. This is a key role to ensure the effective execution of safety protocols across all departments while fostering a culture of proactive safety within the organization.
The SMS Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all safety initiatives align with regulatory standards, as well as driving improvements that exceed compliance. This individual will work closely with department heads and leadership teams to maintain a safe and compliant work environment for all employees.
Key Responsibilities:
•Oversee SMS Implementation: Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) and ensure strict adherence to safety standards and compliance with regulations across all departments.
•Safety Audits & Inspections: Conduct regular safety audits, assessments, and inspections to identify hazards, gaps in procedures, and areas for improvement or risk mitigation.
•Develop Safety Procedures: Develop and implement safety standard procedures to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization.
•Safety Training Initiatives: Lead and deliver safety training initiatives, ensuring employees are well-versed in safety standards, policies, and best practices.
•Enforce Compliance: Enforce compliance with safety standards by monitoring practices, addressing issues promptly, and ensuring all departments operate within established safety guidelines and regulatory requirements.
•Analyze Incident Reports: Analyze incident reports, safety performance metrics, and accident investigations to identify trends, root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
•Drive Continuous Improvement: Utilize data and strategic oversight to drive continuous improvements in safety measures, ensuring that the organization not only meets but exceeds regulatory requirements and industry standards.
•Foster Safety Culture: Work closely with department heads and leadership teams to foster and maintain a proactive safety culture throughout the company.
Qualifications:
•Proven experience in safety management with a focus on safety standards, procedures, and compliance, preferably within the infrastructure industry.
•Strong knowledge of safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and risk management practices.
•Familiarity with ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 45001 and other relevant Safety Management System (SMS) standards such as ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems) and ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems).
•Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
•Ability to analyze incident reports and safety performance data to drive improvements in safety measures and compliance.
•Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills to engage with cross-functional teams.
•Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
•Certifications, such as OSHA, Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) certifications, or similar qualifications.
