About the Job
The Senior Manager, Safety & Operations oversees technical committees, discussion groups, and other membership-driven programs within the Safety, Operations, Engineering & Security department. In addition, this role supports AGA’s Enhanced Peer Review Program, organizes and leads webinars and workshops, provides technical support for AGA publications, and collaborates with industry organizations to represent AGA’s interests and monitor relevant industry standards.
What you will do:
•Administer the work of Safety, Operations, Engineering, and Security (SOES) technical committee(s), task groups, Discussion Groups, and membership-driven programs.
•Provide technical and staff support for AGA’s Enhanced Peer Review Program.
•Organize and conduct industry workshops, conferences, roundtables, and webinars by developing agendas, confirming speakers, working through event logistics, leading discussions, and possibly giving presentations.
•Provide technical support for AGA publications, industry position papers, and industry comments for proposed rulemakings.
•Provide technical support for industry data collection, analysis, and summaries.
•Stay abreast of industry developments and assist in determining appropriate short-term and long-term plans for SOES.
•Represent AGA in technical conferences, workshops, meetings, and other venues.
•Work closely with Meeting Services staff to conduct events on issues of interest to member company technical personnel.
•Staff technical committees and provide leadership to the committee officers.
What you will bring:
•Minimum 5 years’ experience in the natural gas industry, preferably gas distribution or intrastate transmission.
•Excellent communications skills, both oral and written; ability to communicate technical issues, both orally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences.
•Excellent facilitation skills.
•Ability to successfully work on multi-disciplinary teams to accomplish team goals, manage projects within established budgets and timetables, integrate diverse opinion into consensus positions for AGA membership, and recognize and implement opportunities to generate revenue.
•Project managerial or organizational skills.
•Must be available to travel up to 12 trips per year.
•Successful candidate ideally possesses knowledge in one of the following areas: i) Safety Management Systems; ii) Pipeline safety regulatory compliance; or iii) Gas measurement & regulation.
•Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent industry experience).
How we operate:
This role is based in Washington, DC where AGA employees currently have the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days remotely. The employee’s team determines one day each week, and the employee determines the others.
The Pay and Benefits:
For employees who live in the Washington, DC Metro area, the salary range for this position is $119,850 to $162,150 annually. Typically, new hires are brought into the organization at a salary range between the minimum and midpoint, depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted salary for the role.
