The SR400 Express Lanes Project is a $4.6 billion GDOT and SRTA-backed DBFM infrastructure initiative led by SR400 Constructors, a joint venture between Flatiron Dragados and ACCIONA. The 16-mile corridor requires advanced logistical coordination, real-time maintenance, and cost-effective utilization of heavy equipment to support continuous field operations across multiple segments.
We are seeking a dedicated Safety Engineer to join our team on the SR 400 Constructors. This role is vital in ensuring a safe and healthy workplace by providing inspection, evaluation, training, and technical support. The ideal candidate will be passionate about safety, proactive in identifying risks, and committed to building a strong safety culture where the protection of people and the public is never sacrificed for production.
Job Description Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify compliance with OSHA, GDOT, and project specific safety management plans requirements.
- Support daily risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safety meetings across the project segments.
- Assist in safety orientations and refresher training for employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
- Conduct incident and near-miss reporting, investigations, and corrective action tracking.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation and reports using our safety management software.
- Provide technical guidance on hazard recognition, safe work practices, PPE usage, and emergency preparedness.
- Promote and reinforce organizational safety values and expectations at all times.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
- Minimum of 3 years’ safety or construction experience (for Specialist II) or 7+ years’ experience (for Specialist III).- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety principles, hazards, and regulatory requirements.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence teams.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and comfort with digital safety reporting systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related engineering field.
- Professional safety certification (CHST, STS, ASP, or CSP).
- Experience supporting large DOT or heavy civil projects.
- Familiarity with MUTCD traffic control safety requirements and GDOT Technical Provisions.
- Strong integrity and ethical standards.
- Proactive problem solver who anticipates and addresses risks before they escalate.
- Collaborative and team oriented, able to build trust with craft workers, subcontractors, and project leadership.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
