QCELLS America is currently seeking a Safety Engineer to work at our Cartersville, GA facility. This position will be responsible for assisting the Qcells plant in the development and management of safety programs and projects. The role involves fostering a zero-harm safety culture that promotes proactive, risk-based programs involving our team members. The candidate will have the opportunity to be part of a new plant design, construction, and startup in Cartersville, GA.
- Regulatory Compliance & Standards Monitoring
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Monitor OSHA regulatory updates and integrate changes into EHS programs, policies, procedures, and training.
- Respond to regulatory requests, inspections, and enforcement actions, and coordinate necessary corrective actions.
- Risk Assessment & Hazard Control
- Conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and implement appropriate engineering or administrative controls.
- Perform regular workplace inspections to identify hazards and ensure timely corrective action.
- Identify and resolve health and safety noncompliance issues in collaboration with relevant teams or departments.
- Incident Management & Reporting
- Lead incident and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis and development of corrective/preventive actions.
- Create and distribute safety alerts and track closure of action items.
- Maintain OSHA 300/300A logs and prepare internal and external safety reports as required.
- Training & Safety Culture
- Develop and deliver OSHA-compliant safety training programs (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, PPE, Emergency Response).
- Conduct toolbox talks, emergency drills, and safety awareness sessions to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Contractor Safety Management
- Evaluate and audit contractor safety programs to ensure alignment with OSHA and site-specific requirements.
- Provide feedback on deficiencies and communicate findings to drive continuous improvement and future contract consideration.
- Chemical Safety & Hazard Communication
- Maintain chemical inventories and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in accordance with OSHA Hazard Communication Standard.
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with applicable laws.
- Recordkeeping & Documentation
- Maintain accurate safety documentation including OSHA logs, regulatory submissions, and internal records.
- Manage and update documentation for safety programs requiring periodic tracking.
- Prepare monthly/quarterly internal safety reports and support external audit documentation.
- ISO 45001 & EHS Management Systems
- Lead and support activities to maintain ISO 45001 certification in coordination with each team and ISO representatives.
- Integrate continuous improvement initiatives within the EHS management system and align with both internal standards and OSHA best practices.
- Act as liaison for insurance carrier inspections and ensure follow-up on findings.
- Bachelor's degree in a related EHS technical field (relevant work experience may be considered as an alternate).
- 5 years of combined experience in EHS.
- Experience in dealing with regulatory agencies (Federal, State, and local municipalities).
- Experience in generating, preparing, and writing reports.
- Exceptional organizational skills required to manage/support multiple concurrent projects.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Presentation and training experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
