Job Description

The Railroad Commission of Texas, recognized as a worldwide leader in the regulation of oil and gas exploration and production, seeks a Salesforce Programmer III to provide support to the Information Technology Division. Performs complex (journey-level) Salesforce customization, configuration, and development work. Thorough understanding of Salesforce architecture and API; analyzing proposed applications; and providing technical development assistance.

Moderate background in Salesforce SaaS/CRM platform, as well as Salesforce as a platform (PaaS) customization, including Apex, Visualforce pages, and lightning components, and bug fixing. Experience in development best practices throughout the deployment cycle, working with sandbox environments. Work involves assisting in the planning, scheduling, and assigning development projects. May assign and/or supervise the work of others. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.


Essential Job Functions

- Performs the development of processes, diagrams, and flowcharts used to represent operations and data flow for applications.

- Performs the detailed analyses, designs, plans, diagrams, and verification procedures for existing and proposed applications.

- Act as a subject matter expert for Salesforce development, configuration, integration, and customization of fields, objects, and workflows.

- Communicate and collaborate with other technical resources and stakeholders regarding status, technical issues, and creative solutions.

- Perform ongoing Salesforce administration (create accounts/profiles, defining fields, updating layouts, reports, dashboards, etc.) and development.

- Ability to support Salesforce.com configuration tasks such as field/page updates, workflows, and automated approvals.

- Design, develop, test, document, and deploy high-quality business solutions on the SFDC platform based on industry best practices as well as business needs.

- Implement improvements and new functionality in the SFDC application.

- Implement exports and report information out of Salesforce.

- Ability to work with Tableau, Microsoft BI, or similar data visualization tools.

- Deliver support and solutions for break/fix issues.

- Responsible for ensuring adherence to all security, availability, confidentiality, and privacy policies and controls.

- Create and maintain a library of design/developed campaign templates.

- Exceptional communication skills; ability to communicate with internal customers, troubleshoot bugs and offer technical support as needed for the Salesforce/CRM platform.

- Work through development bugs and challenges, and keep coming up with solutions.

- Assists in the generation or installation of systems software.

- May prepare instructions and procedures for use during implementation of software modifications, system modifications, and/or new products.

- Performs related work as assigned.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications

- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in data processing, computer science, business, or a related field is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.

- Three or more years of Salesforce systems implementation experience.

- Experience building custom APEX and Visualforce solutions.

- Experience with Salesforce, Sales Cloud, and Service Cloud functional and application design.

- Total years may run concurrently.

- Experience and education may substitute for each other on a year-for-year basis.


Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with Apex, Lightning Components, Visualforce, Workflows, Triggers, REST API.

- Experience with working with Tableau, Microsoft BI, or similar data visualization tools.

- Experience with Exporting, Reporting, and Publishing information from Salesforce.

- Salesforce Administration and Configuration Experience (Sites, Security, CORS, Connected Apps, etc.).

- Experience with Salesforce Sandboxes, Integrations, and Application Development.

- Salesforce Developer Certification.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

- Proven leadership, prioritization, and analytical skills.

- Proven ability to design and optimize technical systems in support of organizational processes.

- Deep understanding of web technologies, such as JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, XML, JSON, and Ajax.

- Experience with JavaScript frameworks.

- Good understanding of Database technologies such as SQL and relational database schema design.

- Experience leading technical requirements gathering and building solutions from those requirements.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

- Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work.

Work Hours: Standard office hours for Commission employees are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Our agency offers alternate schedules for employees, as long as it does not adversely affect operations and service levels, and standard hours of operation are maintained. The Commission may also offer telework based on the agency’s approved Telework Plan. Alternate work schedules may be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview process.
