Major responsibilities include analyzing, maintaining, and enhancing divisions existing databases, resources, and tools. Creating and reporting key performance indicators (KPIand#8217;s) to stakeholders. Performing data clean-up and transformation, including migration of data from existing databases to new databases. Coordinating and communicating as needed with RRCs Information Technology Services Division. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.Essential Job Dutiesand#8226;Understand and utilize RRC applications to compile and query data.and#8226;Develop and maintain data visualizations and dashboards using Power BI, including advanced use of DAX and Power Query (M language) for data modeling and transformation.and#8226;Design and implement automated workflows with Power Automate to streamline document routing, notifications, and Excel log updates.and#8226;Utilize Python scripting to support process automation, data extraction, and data transformation tasks.and#8226;Build and manage relational data models and maintain data accuracy across Excel, Access, and SQL-based systems.and#8226;Identify opportunities for process improvement by optimizing workflows, enhancing data validation methods, and standardizing reporting practices across teams. and#8226;Analyzes data using standard statistical tools, methods, and techniques.and#8226;Consults with internal and external customers to identify user needs.and#8226;Interprets results to identify gaps in the data, processes, or applications etc.and#8226;Cleans and prunes data to discard irrelevant information.and#8226;Create meaningful reports and dashboards for daily/ weekly/ monthly reviews at various levels.and#8226;Assists in developing methods for mitigating data issues by creating and testing user casesand#8226;Assists in preparing technical reports to present and interpret data, identify alternatives, and make and justify recommendation on data revisions.and#8226;Assists in identifying and interpreting data patterns and trends and assessing data quality.and#8226;May develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.and#8226;May establish and maintain standard work procedures governing the appropriate use of data.and#8226;Performs related work as assigned.For Military Crosswalk information, please visit: Military Crosswalk for Occupational Category - Planning, Research, and Statistics

Qualifications: Minimum Qualificationsand#8226;Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Data Science; Business Analytics; Computer Science; Computer Information Systems; Management Information Systems; Mathematics; Statistics; Finance, or a related field.and#8226;Two years (2) professional experience in process mapping, querying data and data analysis, data management, research, compilation, and reporting work.and#8226;Two years (2) experience with Oracle Database, relational database applications, SQL, Python, VBA Script and PowerBI.and#8226;Ability to work 8:00 AM and#8211; 5:00 PM Monday through Friday, with occasional flexible hours and weekends.and#8226;Valid Texas Driverand#8217;s license and a good driving record.and#8226;Experience and education may substitute for each other on a year-for-year basis.Preferred Qualificationsand#8226;Experience querying and analyzing data with SQL, Python, Power BI, and MS Exceland#8226;Experience in data reporting and process automation.and#8226;Experience with Oracle Database, relational database applications, SQL, Python, VBA scripting, and Power BI for data analysis and visualization.and#8226;Experience in regulatory operations.and#8226;Knowledge of the Railroad Commission's rules, policies, and procedures.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilitiesand#8226;Knowledge of statistics and analyzing data sets; of running queries, report writing, and presenting findings; of data models, database design development, data mining, and segmentation techniques; and of record keeping, including security procedures for handling, protecting, and distributing data.and#8226;Knowledge of professional office procedures and protocol.and#8226;Skill in the use of a computer and applicable software, in conducting data searches, in evaluating and translating large amounts of data, and in critical thinking.and#8226;Skill in communicating effectively verbally, in writing, and through visual aids.and#8226;Skill in organizing information.and#8226;Ability to compile, review, and analyze data; to prepare reports; to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.and#8226;Ability to plan and coordinate projects.and#8226;Ability to work independently and on a team.and#8226;Ability to maintain professional appearance and demeanor.and#8226;Ability to discern colors and read diagrams, charts, maps and reference materials.and#8226;Ability to work Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM with occasional flexible hours and weekends.Work Hours and Telework:Standard office hours for Commission employees are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
