Marathon Petroleum Company LP has an opening for a Rotating Equipment (Machinist) Maintenance Planner in the Routine Maintenance Planning Department at its Anacortes, WA refinery. This position will report directly to the Routine Maintenance Manager and is responsible for supporting the maintenance machine shop with troubleshooting and repair scope for equipment, developing detailed job plans, ordering material and/or equipment to effectively execute the routine maintenance work in a safe and economical manner on rotating equipment and pressure safety valves (PSVs). The Rotating Equipment (Machinist) Maintenance Planner coordinates between Operations, Maintenance Execution, Reliability/Area Team Engineering, and Inspection to effectively plan, schedule, and execute the work.
Key Responsibilities:
•Assists Operations, Maintenance Execution, and Reliability with troubleshooting rotating equipment issues to ensure only necessary repairs are planned and executed.
•Develops detailed job plans and orders material and/or equipment to effectively execute the routine maintenance work in a safe and economical manner on rotating equipment and pressure safety valves (PSVs). As appropriate, identifies repairs to be performed by off-site repair shops and coordinate the execution of these repairs.
•Plans and estimates multiple craft disciplines including paint, scaffolding, insulation, pipefitting/mechanical/fixed equipment, welding, rigging, electrical, instrumentation, QA/QC and inspection steps associated with rotating equipment and PSV work scope. Implements lessons learned and feedback on future plans to ensure planning accuracy with achieving target weekly schedule compliance of 80%.
•Enters requisitions and coordinates with Supply Chain, Warehouse, and vendors to communicate priority of required material and external resources to support timely execution of planned work.
•Identifies warehouse stock items that have gone obsolete for rotating equipment and PSVs and deletes these from stock as well as sets up appropriate replacement items. Works with Engineers to update stock based on equipment changes, upgrades, and projects executed. Optimizes stocking levels as appropriate to keep warehouse costs down and build Bill of Materials (BOMs) for equipment.
•Actively participates in improving rotating equipment reliability via the following: weekly rotating equipment failure meeting, quarterly Flowserve Alliance Implementation Team (AIT) meeting, ensuring unaddressed findings from previous repairs are captured for future repairs, etc.
•Continually demonstrates safety leadership by routinely participating in toolbox safety meetings, ensures MPC policies and practices are followed, and utilizing suspend work obligation.
•Advocates for continual change and improvement with planning and executing work scope on rotating equipment and PSVs by maintaining, seeking out, and building lasting relationships with existing and new service providers.
Education, Experience, and Skills: Minimum Qualifications.
•High School Diploma or GED.
•Minimum of 5 years experience in refining, chemical, petrochemical or other related heavy industry.
•Ability to read and comprehend P&IDs, Equipment Drawings, Isometrics, etc.
•SAP (or similar) and Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook) Proficiency.
•Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
•Strong leadership, organizational, planning, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
•Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks and be a team player with a positive attitude.
•Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
•A valid driver’s license is required.
•Travel Requirement: less than 5%.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Associate or bachelor’s degree.
•Refinery or petrochemical experience.
•Prior leadership skills.
•In-depth knowledge of maintenance practices and procedures.
•Maintenance planning experience.
